Me and that dog of mine

I had an interesting day.  I had a nice chat with a friend of mine about the differences in our beliefs.  I had a chance to tell him it was always right to speak the truth in love, and then he gave me the opportunity to speak a hard truth, in love, to him.  It's amazing how God uses us.

I'm assisting in the rearing of a puppy.  My houseguest feels that salve for her broken heart looked like a puppy.  You should try finding a puppy in the Corona.  They're hard to find, and they're going for upwards of $1000.  God provides.  She found a pup for a reasonable price and when she's at work, I get to puppy-sit.

Today, puppy and I were playing tug-of-war with a rope bone.  Bucky and I played this game forever but since he's gotten old, he's not much for that nonsense anymore...until he saw the pup and I playing and the light came on.  That used to be a him and me thing.  So we got to play rope for a minute.  It's about all he had in him, but he gave it what he had.  I"m so blessed that I got that opportunity to play with my dog again.  You can't know how much that means to me.

I took him to the beach after dinner.  It was just about sunset and we just had enough time to get there before it went down.  We took a short walk along the beach and then as I was putting on my shoes, we ran into an older guy and his son.  The son wanted to know if Buck was friendly.  I told him he was.

I always told people that Buck, if given the chance, would probably lick them to death.  Two minutes into this random meeting, Buck is licking this guy's face.  He wanted a picture of Buck and I let him take one.  He told me Buck was very photogenic so I asked him to text me the photo.

He was hesitant.  But his dad decided to take a picture of him and I and he texted it to me.  He told me that meeting Buck made his day.

Little encounters.  They're blessings.  On top of playing with Buck, I got a picture of him and me.  I know our time is shorter than I'd like.  But days like this.  Him and me.  And God orchestrating these little minutes to me is priceless.
