How do you know?

Today is Maunday Thursday.  Today we commemorate the last full day of the life and ministry on earth of the Lord Jesus Christ.  It's also Passover.  Our Jewish brethren celebrate this night as the night death passed them over.

What should be a time of peace and celebration is anything but this year.  As I write this, news reports are saying that Israelis are conducting airstrikes on Palestinian positions.  This is after Israeli police had to restore order at one of the mosques that sit on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.  It's considered an affront to the Islamic world to have Jews enter their holy site.  The temple mount is administered  of the Jordanian Government.

While nobody knows the day or the hour that the Lord Jesus will make good on His promise to return, events sure seem to be leading that way in a hurry.  One thing we know for certain is that, in the process of remembering the last week of His life, His death on the cross, and His resurrection, we need to be keeping ourselves ready for Him to come back.

So, how do we know that Jesus will come back?  Because He said He would.  Everything prophesied about Him coming the first time came to pass.  It's how we know we can trust the Bible; the odds of even 48 of them coming to pass are 1 followed by 157 zeroes.  Over 300 did.

The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people to be most pitied.  But we know that our hope transcends this world and this existence on earth and extends into eternity with Christ.  Because He told us so.  We also know the fate and destiny of those who do not enter through the narrow Gate.  Because He told us.

And He is trustworthy!
