not what I wanted to do

What I wanted to do was to put on some comfy clothes and go eat ice cream with the folks from my church.  I like these folks and I enjoyed myself last year.  I wanted to go.

But what I wanted to do was interrupted by what I needed to do.  Have I mentioned I can grow a weed like nobody's business?  Have I also mentioned that I have this garden?

My house was a train wreck.  I have pets, so at any given time, my house is in any varying stage of clean.  It needed some attention and it got some.  The lawn is freshly shorn.  Now I'm watering it.  I weeded about fifty feet of carrots today, too.  The onions with the tops fallen over have been dug up and are on top of the ground.  I picked about a hundred feet of green beans.  I picked a peck of peppers.  OK, I'm sure eight anaheim chiles do not make a peck, but it sounded good.

I weeded the beans as I went.  I don't mind the weeds as much as I do the grass.  The grass is a pain to weed out.

June came over about six.  We harvested some broccoli.  I picked two more tomatoes and gave them to her.  I enjoyed a blackberry off my bush.  It was black, but tart.  June had two.  There will be lots more soon.  Very soon.

I swept my house.  I cleaned the pool and have to put some chemicals in it tomorrow.  I'm waiting to see if it rains tonight.  I picked things up.  I put laundry away.  I cleaned up whatever messes came my way.  I fixed my retirement flashlight so the button works again.  I found the tool I need to fix June's car.  I can use Auto Zone's for free but I have to leave a $30 security deposit.  It's going to have to wait until tomorrow.

I got a lot done and now I'm going to deep fry me a couple of turkey steaks for dinner and have some fresh veggies from the garden with it.  I'm also going to watch some of the olympics.  The fun begins again tomorrow.  I have another lawn to mow.

And then, depending on how I feel, twelve hour days this week.

Ugh.

I didn't get ice cream, but my house is clean.
