the rewrite
Every now and again, I have to toss out a blog post or re-write it. Today is hot and sticky and I just don't feel like tossing out the old one. Too much effort. So, instead I'll just rewrite the darn thing.
I wanted to go to Jellystone today. I didn't because I misread a text the wife sent me. I'm kinda glad I didn't go this week, though, because if I hadn't gone to wal-mart the shiny thing on the counter wouldn't be getting hot.
That's the long and short of it. I was in a hurry and I misread the text that kept me at home instead of on the road. No biggie.
I did wind up letting her borrow Bucket. I ain't happy about it but I can share. It's like having joint custody of your kids, I suppose. I even saw the mother-in-law person today. She couldn't save me any money on my thingie because they don't get discounts on closeouts.
Anyway, I am the proud owner of a Butterball electric turkey fryer. I stopped at the Winco and bought a gallon of oil for it thinking a gallon would be sufficient. It is but just barely. It was more than $10 but closeouts are exempt from the $10 rule. The thing is sooooooo coooooollllll.
As always, there is a story behind said turkey fryer. I saw the thing on an infomercial but they'd never tell me how much it was. They had different sizes, but again no prices. Just easy payments. Um, no. No easy payments for the Coops. I let it go. But today I was thinking I wanted to make some fried chicken for our church pot-luck coming up on Sunday. It was either that or smoke a turkey, because making fried chicken for a lot of people is a tough thing to do with the fryer I have. Or let me say, had.
This thing is sooooo neat. You can drain the oil out of the thing and put water in it and steam stuff. That's gonna come in handy around turkey day. That's also gonna come in handy the next time I make corned beef and cabbage. Yum. But tonight it's fried meat. Fired buzzard and fried meat.
I was going to barbeque tonight. But instead, I'm going for the heart attack. I'll make a salad, too, I promise. But I know how to bread meat and I'm gonna bread some meat and deep fry it. Can you say Chicken fried steak... Makes me hungry just thinking about it.
Tomorrow I have to make June some buttermilk bread, too. And I might throw together some extra zucchini bread for the pot-luck. We're going to have plenty of zucchini to share. I looked at the plants today and they're already growing replacements. We harvested two gold zucchini and there's a crookneck that's not far behind.
Well, that's the re-write. Felt I had to do that because most of what the first story was predicated on was the fact that I can't read.
Hope you have an awesome weekend and don't forget about our fellow Americans in Denver in your prayers tonight.
