$%&# Cars!
I do not like to work on cars. I work on airplanes for a living and wrenchin' is wrenchin', right?
Wrong.
One of my co-workers and I were talking about cars last night. The operating principle of a jet engine is actually simpler than the regular internal combustion engine. The engineering and precision required is different but more simple. And cars of old were easier to work on than they are today.
My car problems may have been exaggerated by yours truly. The way the car was acting, I wouldn't have thought so. A can of head gasket repair which may have finally worked and a radiator cap made Chevron drivable last night. I'm still going to throw the tester auto zone has for rent on the motor and see if there's exhaust gases in the radiator, though.
The thing is, I replaced said radiator cap when I changed the radiator in the truck several months ago. That may have actually caused more problems than it solved because the problems in the truck got progressively worse after that. I just figured that the head gasket failure was just getting worse.
If I bought the Blazer because of a bad radiator cap, then I'm going to be upset. The thing is, though, that the truck was costing me a fortune to drive. The Blazer gets twice the gas mileage so what I save in gas will more than pay for it. It'll be nice to know that I can trust Chevron again, too. I'm so ready just to put $5,000 into a new engine for it. However, I don't have five grand for a new motor.
Until I pay for the Blazer, I'm not gonna have an extra $10.
The second part of cars is finding the source of my exhaust manifold leak. It's been noisy for a while but it's been getting worse lately. I thought, what the heck, I will check the bolts and see if one worked loose. I torqued them down when I changed the head gaskets a few years ago. I noticed though that the exhaust leak was getting worse and louder, so I thought I'd do something about it today.
All of the bolts were loose. All eight of them. Not anymore and no more loud truck.
Things seem to be working well with Chevron today.
The Blazer is running well after the radiator change. Chevron is running well so far with its' second radiator cap. I am running on no sleep, but what else is new? I'm getting stuff done.
Well that's it today from Lark Circle. Hope y'all are having a blessed day!
Wrong.
