I can't talk about it.

Let's talk about food instead.

I'm trying to make life better and part of that is realizing that I need to eat better.  I made better choices at the grocery store the other day after realizing mexican food and bed are a terrible combination.  That and my downstairs roommate keeps posting pictures of the grub he's making on Facebook.

Vegetarian, though.

He's more traveled than I am and he comes up with some stuff that, with the proper ingredient (beef, pork, chicken) would probably be good.  Mushrooms are a poor substitute but with him, it's not a moral choice...it's one of necessity.  After having to down my last three green magic pills for gout after said bout of mexican food, changing the diet was a good idea.

My doctor told me I needed to eat smaller portions and eat about five times a day.  I'm trying to listen.  OK, the bag of tortilla chips on the counter is probably not the best choice, but bear with me.  I only have two more jars of the salsa I made (one of the hot and one of the too much lime) and tomorrow is the Super Bowl, which is where they'll be consumed.  After that, no more chips.

I bought stuff for sandwiches.  I bought thin sliced cheese.  I bought ham, turkey, and beef and rolls for sandwiches.  I also purchased stuff for salads, fresh fruit, and plain yogurt.  Plain.  I have lots of bottled fruit I can add to said yogurt and I put it up with a light syrup.

I like salads and I miss the dressings in European countries that are yogurt based.  They're awful spendy at the store, but if you do your research, you can figure out how to make your own.  I made a cucumber dressing with yogurt, lemon juice, garlic powder, and a little bit of olive oil as an emulsifier.  A minute in the food processor and viola'...salad dressing.

I made some more tikka masala for dinner tonight.  I saw naan bread at the Macey's the other day so I bought some.  The sauce is out of a jar but next time, it will be a bit more fresh.  They have the same stuff in a concentrate at the Macey's too so I can make it with fresh yogurt and my own tomatoes.  Ought to be good.

One of the best things I ever bought was a rice cooker.  Perfect rice?  Well better than on the stove.  I selected jasmine rice for tonight's meal.  It also goes well with tava.

I had a busy day today.  My shower is clean as it's ever gonna get.  It took a razor blade and a lot of scrubbing with a brush and Comet cleanser.  Lime Away worked great in the bathroom sink but couldn't cut the mustard in a shower that is 50 years old.  It's tough to see the dirt but boy when I saw it, was I surprised.

I also re-caulked around the bathtub and shower floor.  Sometime somehow, stuff started growing in the old caulk.  It's nice and shiny white now!  I'm serious about keeping the joint clean.

I want to end today's blog by saying that I know you don't read this to hear about how I'm cleaning my house or what I'm making for dinner.  All I can say for now is that God is at work in my life and it's just time to be quiet about it right now.
