From the sick bed

I've had the flu before.  But never like this.  When I went to the doctor on Sunday morning, I was in so much pain.  The body aches that come with the flu thought it would be fun if they found the parts of my back that hurt and take up space there.  The fever that came with this was no joke, either.

The flu for me has always felt like a cold on steroids.  This time, it was something entirely different.  I didn't have a stuffy nose.  It was all in my chest and not in my head.  I had a dry hacking cough.  Never had one of those that I can remember.  The headache was horrible, and for a day and a half, nothing even put a dent in this.  I was so sick on Saturday, I tried making chicken soup but only got half way through the process.  I finally finished it on Sunday.

Being sick isn't fun, but I'm thankful for two things I bought when I replaced everything last year.  One is the TV in the bedroom which I'm enjoying today.  The second is the adjustable bed.

If you have a bad back, the adjustable bed is your friend.

Mine hurt badly on Saturday.  Sunday was more bearable, and sometime last night I started sweating this out.  Getting comfortable was easier with the push of a couple of buttons

This thing, and apparently I'm not alone in feeling this, is no joke.  My friend Marlene said it's the worst she ever had, too.

At the doctor, I was treated to another unexpected surprise; the nasal swab.  I thought the nurse was gonna just stick a cotton swab up my nose.  Wrong.  She tried to scratch the back of my brain with the thing.    I found out that you can stick something that far back into a human's sinus cavity.  It still hurts.

If you come to my house today, you'll smell lavender lysol.  I sprayed the door handles.  I sprayed the furniture.  I sprayed the counters.  I sprayed the air.  I'm no germophobe, but I'm not gonna let them escape without a fight.

By the way, don't come to my house today.  I have the FLU.

I decided that I'm on the mend.  I want sweet and sour chicken.
