Time vs Money
The older I get, the more I see a real truth at play in life, which is that most of our lives seem to be spent around the idea of trading time for money.
I need to plant some grass. Well, I probably NEED to pour concrete and dye it green, but what will do instead is planting grass. However, because three dogs co-habitate with me, I need to plant grass that is already ready to go. My people call this type of grass, sod.
Sod is not an in-demand item in the marketplace in which I inhabit, so I have two choices for this purchase. One is to have it delivered. The other is to pick it up and drive a total of 7 hours to do that. My cost to pick up: about $200. My cost for delivery: $750
So, my cost savings is worth the time and gas to fetch said sod. I'm trading time for money. Often times, we trade money for time, which n this case would have been to pay the delivery fee.
The nice thing is that I can make good use of the time by enjoying the outing with my son. We can stop on the way back for breakfast and take our time and drive the slow lane on our way back home. I'm looking forward to the drive actually. Sometimes, the best way to redeem the time is not to buy it, but to spend the time and save the money.
This is one of those times.
