Stories I can share, stories I can't
So, I have this blog. Anyone can read it. I know this, but I also know that if every time someone told me something about their life, or this or that, and I posted it on my blog it wouldn't be very long before I didn't have many friends. I'd have readers, but no friends.
There are things that happen in my life I don't share on the blog. I'd love to share them, but sometimes things are best left private out of respect for others. I can't tell you these types of stories but I can tell you this: God answers prayers. He performs miracles, big and small, to this day. I can share with you that prayer works. Sometimes the answer may be "No" or not as quickly as we want things to happen. Those are stories I can tell.
I can share this story with you, too. I was on fire once. A bunch of us were trying to warm up after the afternoon hunt and we were standing by the fire. An ember popped from the aspen we were burning and embedded itself in the nylon upper of one of the boots I was wearing. It went undetected until I felt this pain in my ankle where the ember had melted through the nylon. I looked down and the back of my jeans were in flames! I was on fire! I stopped, dropped and rolled, but the flames wouldn't go out. Thankfully we'd been hunting and were just starting to get our evening drink on when this happened and a friend grabbed some water and was able to douse the flames before they went past my boot and burned my leg. I wound up with a nasty little burn about the size of a cigarette on my ankle where the Nylon melted through. We had a good laugh about it but when if you know me, there are only three things I'm afraid of: The Lord God Almighty, snakes, and being on fire.
I was on fire. It was just a small fire though. It could have been so much worse!
I have a lot of stories. Some of them I can share, like being on fire. Some I can't because I want to keep the friends I have.
One of the gifts I've been given is the wisdom to decide these days which stories are which.
God bless you all!
