Rocky for Prez?

First of all, I have to start out by saying that I am not a Rocky Anderson supporter. Yet.  I don't agree with him on everything, but whatever you think of the former mayor of Salt Lake City, I think he's due some respect because he was a good mayor for the city.  And he wasn't afraid to speak about his beliefs or convictions.  My favorite thing about him was that when Mr. Sean Hannity went after him for his participation in an anti-war protest, he didn't back down, and by all accounts, including mine, took Mr. Hannity apart in a debate about it.

So, Rocky's running for president.  Good for him.  I hope he gets his message out there.

Time to switch from Mr. Anderson to our good friend and savior of the olympic games in 2002, Mr. Willard "Mitt" Romney.

I'm not a Romney supporter and let me tell you why:  It's not because he's changed his mind on this issue or that.  It's not because of his religion, nor his money.  It's simply because of HOW he made his money and that it seems he'll say anything to anyone just to get elected.

I am glad though that Mr. Romney is the frontrunner because he's going to represent a lot of what's wrong with our country.  We're all about to see the consequences of our electoral process and the result of years of mismanaged and skewed tax policy.  We're going to see the consequences of the business climate of taking as much as you can from as many as you can.  We're going to get to understand how a wealthy person pays a lower tax rate on passive income than a person who works 40+ hours a week or busts his/her hump defending this country.  It's not about amounts.  It's about the effective rate of tax you pay and I don't understand why we'd tax work more than we'd tax other income.

I don't know I have some answers for these issues but I'm interested to see the conversation.  There's a lot of anger out there in this country about things and when you have the poster boy for what in my humble opinion is wrong with our country right now running for president, these things are gonna get talked about.  And for that, I'm grateful to Mr. Romney because that conversation is long overdue!

In the meantime, I suggest everyone read an American History book that covers the late 1800s all the way to the start of WWII.  It's not like we haven't been down this road before.  This time, though, I think the rich do a better job of selling it.

In other political news, Gov. Walker in Wisconsin is going to stand for a recall election.  I guess you can't try to shove an agenda down people's throats.

And one last thought to my friends who are concerned about the possibility of new voter laws discriminating against those who don't have photo IDs.  Let's take some of that super PAC money and set up a charity to help them get IDs.  We can't help them register to vote, but as far as I know there's nothing wrong with helping someone obtain a copy of a birth certificate or give them the $ to pay for a state-issued photo ID.  Then they can register to vote if they want, and you do everyone a favor by not spending that money on a commercial.

That's all for me.  Well, that I'm gonna talk about.  I had this great blog planned about truth and consequences.  Maybe I'll work on it this weekend!
