A week in review

I had a fairly interesting week last week.  I'd like to share it with you.

On Monday, I found out the thing on my heart was not from God.  Two little words managed to break my heart all over again.  I don't know why that had to happen again, but God does and I have to trust Him, that it's for His purposes.  This quote from AW Tozer helps:  "It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him deeply."  I have the hurt deeply part.

On Tuesday, I heard from the squoze.  She had some news for me:  "Some guy" messaged her through Facebook and asked her to tell me to stop stocking [sic] them.  I believe what he meant was "stalking" and I wasn't.  I heard from the same guy.  He was mad about Miss June showing up but forgot that Miss June helped her daughter move and knows where they live.  I don't know and really don't care where they live. It's not my business.  I remember still that I have the words to say to this guy but the courage to keep my mouth shut and let God be God.  I kind of wondered though after hearing that:  Who's stalking whom?

Maybe they should read the blog?

I got a couple of texts at five in the morning on Wednesday.  Stupid phone, they were sent Tuesday afternoon.  A friend of mine had some things happen and had to leave his car in Salt Lake.  He needed a ride and was kind enough to pay for the gas to run him to retrieve it.  There was enough left over to get me to work the next two days, too.  I didn't do that on purpose, by the way.  It should have taken all of what was put in my tank to get there and back.  Sometimes God can use the most odd of circumstances to be a blessing because I had no idea how I was going to get home from work on Wednesday.  My friend was a blessing and if he looks at what I gave him this morning, he'll understand about the extra.  Thanks for being a blessing to me.

In so many ways.

Thursday saw the completion of a project at work I'd been working on for a couple of weeks.  Sometimes people make a big deal out of nothing.  This project is like that.  It kind of seemed like a no-brainer and I learned a lot about the folks I work with during the process.  If I have to do this job again, I will have a lot better understanding of it and not be intimidated by the scope of the job.  It's a big job, but not as complicated as folks would have you believe.

Also on Thursday, God blessed me with the ability to juggle my finances to meet some obligations and fix my truck.  That was a true blessing.  Most likely, there will be no vacation this year, but I have plenty to do around here anyway.  I was really looking forward to the 4th in Gunnison and Blue Mesa Lake, but there's next year, God willing.

I was blessed to work some overtime on Friday but pulled something in my back.  I also got to make a trip the Amish store in Willard on Friday for rib rub.

Saturday, we had our last Men of Vision planning meeting before our conference this weekend.  At the end of the meeting, the guy in charge of the ministry asked Karl and I if we'd ask our wives to help.  I told him I didn't have one.  He asked if I had a girlfriend.  Karl and I just looked at each other and laughed as two friends sharing an inside joke.  I told the guy I didn't have one of them, either.  His reply?  "You should get a girlfriend."

Yeah, not so much was the general feeling from both of us.  Both times I have it hasn't worked out so well for me.  That didn't hurt.

Much.

Maybe that guy should read the blog, too.

Yesterday, I wanted to go to work, but there was too much around here that had to be done.  The truck has been repaired and the new radiator seems to be working well.  I have some new tools.  I watched a youtube video and the guy said to use tubing flare wrenches to undo the transmission cooler lines.  Well, I rounded one of them off anyway and a pair of ginormous vice grips saved the day.  I also had to use the old fittings because the new ones that came with the radiator did not work.  That was a process but it got done, thanks to God!  I have to admit that I lost one of the thermostat housing bolts, but in searching for it, I found the bolt that secures the jack to the fender under the hood.  No more driving around with that in my car.  I also had the right size bolt and lock washer to replace the missing bolt in my stash of hardware.  God is so GOOD to me!

I got everything done I wanted to yesterday.  I have a whole new respect for film makers and the patience it takes to do that.  It took me two hours to put together a two minute "movie" yesterday.  We want to thank the sponsors that helped us out with Heart of a Warrior so I made a movie of their logos that will play during the conference.

Today, I was able to use some God given talents to fix the sprinkler timer and water the lawn at the church.  A wire pulled out of the timer and went unnoticed.  I turned the solenoid on manually to water while the service was going on and then fixed the timer after the service.  I like it when it's simple and it's nice to be a blessing to others.

I was in search of a donut earlier this morning and forgot to hit the cash cow.  There's a donut shop on 24th Street but it's not open today.  There's a credit union on 26th, and I found myself on 25th Street for some reason on the way to get some cash.  My buddy was at the coffee shop there, so I had a coffee with him before church.  Always good to get out.

When I got home, the radio in the bedroom was on and the program was a guy talking about Ruth and Naomi and mentioned that Christians don't have good luck.  They have God's providence.  Yes, we do, and sometimes I wish I knew what that meant.  Part of the program was being out of God's will.  I'm still trying to figure out what exactly God's will for my life is after Monday.  It sure looked like that God's will for me was gonna be something it turned out not to be.

I think this afternoon may involve a ride up the canyon and some worms.  That's if it doesn't rain.  The radiator seems to have solved my problem with my truck for now.  It's drivable anyway.  I'm thankful for that.

I wonder what this week will bring...
