Raspberries and stuff
When we first moved here just about ten years ago, one of the things we discovered we had was the dying quivers of a raspberry patch. Over the years, one or maybe two canes would grow. We'd enjoy a small handful of raspberries and that was it. Two years ago, though, I noticed the raspberries were running away from where they were and headed for open ground where Miss June has her small garden. I cleared away the weeds carefully and nurtured 19 raspberry plants I found growing amongst the weeds. Last year, I put down bark to mulch the area and counted 54 raspberry plants.
We just picked raspberries. We will be picking raspberries again tomorrow and once again next week. What started out as a forlorn little spot in the back 40 has turned into a productive patch of ground which will provide our family (and yours too if you're nice to me) with some homemade raspberry jam.
We don't take lightly the blessings we've been given here at Lark Circle. The thing was, though, that we almost forgot our rule about first fruits. First fruits are to share and Cindy (blog, meet Cindy!) informed me that she sampled some when she was here on Friday.
See, you read a story about raspberries, you find out I'm dating. Imagine that!
Hard work pays off. I believe that. There would have been much harder work on my part in the garden but I've been banned. BANNED! The old lady doesn't know it, but I'm on vacation and she's not going to be around. I'm gonna get my garden on. There really is a lot of work to be done.
By the way, if you'd like some apricot jam, I have plenty. It's bomb shelter food but it needs to be started to be eaten the rest of the way up. We will have apricots a'plenty up in here in about a month.
Do you like apricots? Let me give you my address.
What else can we talk about?
Sometimes you know you're on the right track in life and sometimes you have to ask God about what you're doing. I'm asking a lot of questions these days because I didn't know. I do now, though. Sometimes I ask why. I don't expect or deserve an answer, but sometimes I get one just the same. I don't have a good explanation for the last four months or so, but I do know how God used that. It hit me as I was walking to the airplane last night. If what happened to me with the weird dream and stuff hadn't happened, would I have been willing to be where I am today? I don't think that answer is yes, so God changed something in my heart that allowed me to be where I am today.
Sometimes you can't see the blessings, but they're most always there. Not always, but most always. There are some things I still don't understand.
Two more bits of blessing: My coworker who we've prayed for in church and his granddaughter are both cancer free!
Well USA-Germany is getting ready to start! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
