God is!

This story has absolutely nothing to do with money but if you don't realize that up front, this story could have everything to do with money.

Today's story is about the promises of God to His children.  It's a story of a yielded spirt and a trusting heart.  It's a story of sharing and forgiving.  It's a story that couldn't happen without God's divine intervention.

Julie, my ex was very kind today and shared with me some money that was left over from the house we used to own in Murray.  She didn't have to and honestly I had no expectation that she would.  But she showed me some grace that puts me back on some dry ground in regard to my finances.  This couldn't have happened, I firmly believe, without God softening her heart.

We'd agreed on Friday to share this money, but something she said in the tail end of this conversation made me realize she was under no obligation to do so.  Not giving her the entire check was not an option because it was hers.  I explained that to her this morning as we were on the way to the bank.  She realized this and chose to share it with me.

God uses so many different ways to bless us.  Sometimes that blessing comes from Him directly, like finding a $20 bill on the ground and nobody around it.  (that happened and went into the missions offering on Sunday).  Sometimes He uses us to be a blessing to others.  Sometimes He requires sacrifice when we get to be a blessing to others.  And sometimes He uses others to bless us.  I'm more excited about seeing God soften Julie's heart than the money itself.  I'm more excited to see that all I have been telling people about God and my circumstances come to fruition.  I kept telling the people that share my home that God is faithful and He would provide.  Sometimes an overabundance of faith is required.

I have to admit that I was a little dismayed when I realized I wasn't entitled to half of the money in question.  It hurt for a while but I realized that sometimes God can use money to test us.  If this was a test, not doing the right thing was never an option.  Being open to being blessed was, though.

I am grateful to God; first and foremost for being everything He says He is.  The money is secondary to the blessings I received today and as I drove home, something kept telling me that this is only the start.  There was something else for me.  When I opened the mailbox, there was an envelope from some folks that are doing a study I've been a part of for years now and when I opened it, there was a crisp, brand new $2 bill inside.

God is SO GOOD!  Glory to HIS HOLY NAME!
