Sometimes I don't even believe it
I saw a question on Facebook the other day asking folks to post what their favorite book of the Bible is. For me, that's a tough question because I have more than one.
Hosea is one of the people who I will be looking forward to meet in Heaven. I learned a lot about what God asks of people sometimes and if you want the explanation of why I stayed married to Wendi as long as I did, this would be a good place to start finding it.
I also am looking forward to meeting Naomi and Ruth. Eternity is a very long time and I hope to talk with each of these ladies. If you want to understand my relationship with Miss June, read the book of Ruth.
I think every human being in the world can relate on some level to King David. There's a fascinating man, but his life serves as an example that there are consequences to sin that sometimes go further than finding redemption and forgiveness. I learned a lot about God, and about sin from reading about David. I also learned that a believer need not fear anything. You will never understand how I didn't have the courage to invite (name deleted) to church yesterday.
Jonah is someone else I can relate to. I've run from God. I disobeyed God and didn't understand I had until it was far too late. I see a little bit of me in Jonah and it helps me to understand his story to remind me to yield to God.
Everyone who loves an underdog should read the book of Esther. In fact, you should, just to learn how God's providences in our lives work. Nowhere in the story is God's name mentioned, but the Creator is at work. Want to understand how God works in my life when I tell you the unbelievable, but very real stuff that happens in my life? Read Esther. It will take you about a half-hour.
Tonight though, my thoughts are with Job. I am not anywhere near as righteous as Job. But in my own test today, and brother did I get tested today, I chose God. I turned up the radio. I hurt so bad words couldn't describe it, but I know God to be the God who gives and takes away. He's Sovereign and I just ran to him for comfort and guidance.
God, folks, is good all the time. And this weekend, He showed up when I needed Him most.
