Sunday stuff

So, God answers prayers.

My friend's wife was in the hospital with some internal bleeding.  He mentions it on Facebook and asks for prayers for her.  Several hours later, she was home.  The source of the bleeding stopped, in his words..."on it's own".

Or maybe with help?  Often times, we look for prayers and then forget to acknowledge when they're answered.  Several friends prayed for healing and it took place....however it took place, on its' own or with some intervention from above.  Prayers answered.

She's resting at home which is a blessing.

So my mom gave me a car.

I've been praying over my old truck.  I had to buy some wire to wire the two halves of the catalytic converter heat shield together.  The welds at the back cracked and it deployed like a flap on an airplane wing.  I need things to last sixteen more months or so.  The other day I asked God to please just glue everything together for the next 16 months.

He blessed me far in abundance of what I'd asked for.  My mom wanted a newer car.  She's happy with her Ford she bought.  I'm happy with the Chevy she gave me.  It's 13 years old and will turn 100,000 miles this week sometimes.  She's taken care of it well.  I'm thankful and mindful that it's a gift from God, through my mom, who had her own little story to tell about how she got the new one.  I'm also mindful of the line in the sermon about being given a car and making sure I'm using it wisely.

Yeah, that happens every day.

My plans don't always go according to plan.  I had planned on repairing the furnace that heats the north end of the house.  I need to explain that this joint has three; one to heat the south 2/3 of the upstairs, one to heat the south 3/4 of the basement, and one to heat the north end up and downstairs.  The one that heats the basement 3/4 end has been not working for quite a few years.  I kept forgetting about it because my roomie said it stays nice and toasty down there.  He told me he wouldn't use it most likely so I never made it a priority to fix it until today.

The part for the furnace I bought is what that furnace needed.  I replaced it this afternoon after church and it spun right up, the furnace lit, and there is heat just like it had been working for years.  Sometimes God allows little detours to get done what He wants done.  My parts didn't show up, so I used what I had to fix what I could so the roomie would not be without heat.  Parts will be ordered on payday and be here by Thanksgiving or the day after.  When I get that one fixed, because the other one is fixed, I will be able to close one of the registers downstairs which will force more warm air up here.  I love it when a plan comes together.

I checked my fireplace flue and it's clean and clear.  We're ready to have a fire if it gets too cold in that part of the house between now and then.

The Christmas lights are up.  It was 50+ degrees today.  That's why they're up.  I did not use the word "on".  They will wait until the day after Thanksgiving.  So will hanging up the wreaths that decorate the windows of the house.

I also got doggy bombs cleaned up before the snow flies, which I understand is in the forecast for later on tonight.

There is a meat loaf and some banana squash in the oven.  That just sounded really good on a fall night.

And I made maple nut fudge.  I did all of that after church and now I've written a blog post to boot.

Things seem to be turning a corner here at the farm, both for me and for my roomie.  We're well blessed this week and are both making strides to walk where the Lord is leading in each of our lives.  There is peace like a river and joy like a fountain these days.

God is just doing some amazing things here at Lark Circle.  Hope you're finding yourself blessed as well!
