Never boring
As we walked out of the Intensive Care Unit, Pastor K turned to me and asked me "In the seven or whatever years ago when you first walked into my office when you and Wendi got married, did you ever think you'd be doing hospital visits and praying for people?"
Um. No, I never saw that coming.
A couple of guys from the Rescue Mission are ill. We missed them at Bible study this morning so we went and saw them afterward.
I've learned to not expect anything in any given day because I just never know what's coming next. Sometimes, what comes is an affirmation of something; just a little way to know God is here, in the rainy season.
We were talking about Acts today at Bible study, and how a sorcerer named Simon offered to buy the gift of the Holy Spirit this morning and and wondered if the sorcerer was planning to use giving the gift of the Holy Spirit as a way to enrich himself. The Holy Spirit came upon believers that Peter and John laid their hands upon and seeing this, the man wanted that power for himself.
I saw a modern-day application of this today, of course, on Facebook. This lady claims to have the gift of prophecy and for a nominal fee she'll do a prophetic painting for you. As much as I'd love to have a word from God, I'm going to have to pass on this one. I have a relationship with HIm, and if He has something prophetic to tell me, He will tell me.
I put my time to better use. I asked google about what to do while waiting on God. I'm in a rainy season, but the rain is gonna stop soon. When the rainy season stops, that's when I move to the waiting room season. As much as I wish I could forego that process, I don't think that's in the plans. But what is, is something that I can put to use. There's time to heal. There's time to worship. There's time to grow. I can do all those things while waiting on God's timing for what's next. I don't get to just sit around and do nothing, nor do I get to pace the floor. I get to put the time to good use and be prepared for what's next.
That sounds pretty good to me.

just amazing what God does with people like you and me. Even when we don't see it coming, certainly don't expect it, and never really planned for our lives to turn out that way!
