Stories and other stuff

This could be a fun read.  I'm stupid tired, so who knows what will come flying out of my fingers and onto the page you're reading. It's been a long week and a couple of nights of not sleeping well and getting up at "are you kidding me?" in the morning have worn out yours truly.  I mean that.  I'm tired.  I had a maybe dinner date that didn't quite pan out tonight because I wasn't the only one tired. I talked to her later in the evening and mentioned that, all things, considered, I'd have preferred splitting a pizza with her because now I have to do dishes.  I made her laugh.  I have to be good at something, so why not that?  I see myself in the mirror. I need all the help I can get. I forgot to add something to yesterday's post: I have a great life.  I have everything I need.  I really like my job.  I like the people I work with.  I enjoy the church family God blessed me with.  I like the kids being around most of the time.  They make me laugh and I can't help but love them.  I just try to keep my distance so neither they or I get hurt when the day comes I'm not in their lives anymore. I have cars that run and get me where I need to go.  I don't need a payment.  I have two cars and the skills to fix what's wrong with them. I'm grateful to God for all these things, including the great home I enjoy and the wonderful new furnishings I'm blessed to have. I mean that and today and yesterday, I was expressing to God that I am thankful.  I'm also thankful for the lessons, for the no's that are protecting me from something not for me, and the hope that things will change someday and someone special will come into my...

Sometimes how you handle losing is important as how you handle winning.  I firmly believe that.  I got to handle losing today.  Well, it started last night with a co-worker rubbing a little salt into a wound that was gushing blue.   My Dodgers lost the second world series in as many years.  For as many people that were disappointed, I'm sure that many or more were happy, and the Red Sox didn't respond by a burn against my Dodgers, but against the Yankees and the city of New York.  Cracked me up a little bit.  Not nice, but hey, sports rivalries seldom are. They shouldn't be hateful, either.  I have friends who are Cowboys fans.  One in particular I joke with because she knows the history of the rivalry with the Redskins.  It's so deep-rooted that when the NFL re-aligned the divisions, only one team escaped the geographical re-alignment:  Dallas.  Dallas was the lone team that didn't get re-aligned to the new divis...

The plan was to ask yours truly if there was room for one more.  I was told that the pastor wished to speak to me after the sermon.  During the service, he introduced the congregation to a young man who had just recently started worshiping with us who is a student at WSU and was looking for housing. I kinda told God that it was His house and if that's what He'd want....but something kinda told me to not do anything too hasty.  It was something I was gonna have to think over.  I waited around for the pastor after the service and by the time we got to talk about it, God had made other arrangements. A guy showed up at our church today.  He'd never been there before.  He's moving to Las Vegas for work for six months and didn't want to give his place up.  He offered it up to the young man, I'm told.  Details to be arranged, but my services weren't required.  That's probably a good thing.  We have a full house. Of the myriad of things I could blog about, tonight I just chose a simple topic...my furry friends. As I'm typing this, Tom is at my feet.  A few minutes ago, he tried to bite my fingers off.  He was in a playful or an annoyed mood.  I can't tell which one, because, after all, Tom is a cat.  Tom lays at the foot of my bed.  He does so to see the incoming threat.  He likes to be near me, but he's afraid to come closer because he doesn't like my two other cats because they've beat him up a few times because they get jealous if I'm petting Tom.    Tom is twice their size, but Moo, Moo is just plain mean. I call her my "junkyard cat".  When I was dating the lady from the sev, Moo attacked her once when she was here.  Moo is mean. She was rescued from outside one winter.  She was the runt and she wasn't gonna make it as a kitten if I didn't grab her.  Most of the other ones didn't survive that winter and those that did are...

One of the things I dislike about corporate worship is that there's far too much drama for me.  I have enough going on in my own life, and when I see what I deem unnecessary stuff going on, I tend to be easily put off by it. I've been thinking a lot about that lately.  I very much want to be a part of the solution to the issues the group I worship with faces.  I'm so blessed that I've been given an opportunity to grow and to serve in the ways that make use of things I'm blessed to be able to do. I don't have an agenda at church, past this:  Go and make disciples.  It's not my mandate.  That came from the Lord and I'm all about it.  I go to church for two primary reasons:  1..To worship God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  And 2.. To learn more about God so I'm able to do my part in the GO thing. I understand the importance of corporate worship.  I have a family that's not blood, that I belong to.  I understan...

If you follow my Facebook page, you've probably already seen this, but I thought it was funny. I bought the adjustable base for my bed.  I opted for the one that raises you head and feet.  I left the remote on the bed last night, and somewhere before sunrise, Bucket rolled over on the remote, which started folding me up into the mattress like the meat in a taco. Why not?  It's Tuesday. I took a picture yesterday of a little trinket I bought someone at Hobby Lobby.  It was the oddest thing, but a perfect gift for a person I know.  It seems that we'd both lost a dog in the same week.  I sent said picture to the person I intended it to go to via Messenger.  Messenger thought other people needed to see it too  I only found that out because another friend asked me to explain it.
