and it just keeps gettin' weird... and weird, and weird....update #2

I had some things to do today before I dropped the truck off for middle son who is movin' on out of mom's house. As I pulled out of the driveway today, it was like I was headed on an adventure.  Something felt kind of different today and what that is, I have no idea.  It was just a feeling.

On the drive down I got to follow the Perkins Pest Control truck for a few miles.  Nobody tried to kill me on the way down  but about half-way there, I realized I'd forgotten to check the oil in the truck when I gassed it up this morning.  I got to where I was going and checked it.  It needed some, so I ran to the Wal-mart on Redwood Road & 53rd South.

When I was going out, in walked this, well, whatever it was, it was dressed up like a woman.  It looked like a guy dressed up like a woman.  My first instinct was to grab a sharp stick and jab my eyes out.  Me second one was to grab my cell phone, take a photo, and send it to peopleofwalmart.com.  Then I, with some coaching from within, decided that wasn't nice and that what I ought to do is feel sorry for that person.

Anyway, yuk.

Then there was the ride home.  I forgot to tell y'all about all of that.  About Woods Cross, I get a phone call from the former Mrs. Cooper, who informed me that my son has decided that they're getting married in September instead of next May.  He also informed her that because her parents HAVE to pay for the wedding, we HAVE to pay for the honeymoon.  I'm not exactly sure what land my son lives in but he seems to think the genie came and made his parents rich.

I need to have a looonnnnnggggg talk with that boy.

On the way home, I almost got killed twice.  OK, maybe I'm exaggerating, but sometimes semi drivers when they want to change lanes signal and move and it's up to you not to hit them.  Both trailers were registered in Maine and I was close enough to count the dirt smudges on each of them.  Good thing I changed the brakes on the Saturn.

Collectively, that all means something if you know someone who used to have  the last name Perkins and used to live in Maine.  But to me, it's just things I saw.  I'm ascribing no particular meaning to them other than they were there and I saw them.

Back home in Ogden, I had to stop at the IFA.  I wonder how my neighbors would feel about chickens?  Anyway, I needed a wheelbarrow tire and they had one.  On the rim it was $55.  Off the rim, which is what I needed, it was $7.  I came home, changed it, and fortunately, I own a valve stem tool because I had to take the valve core out and clean it.  The tire is back on the dump cart and after a short visit with a friend of mine from church, it's gonna be put to use.

I stopped at the store too and found discount ribs.  We're having dutch oven ribs tonight and Chicken Parmesan tomorrow or the next day.  I gotta start eatin' these bottled tomatoes up.

Well, I'm off on my next adventure.  It's been a weird week and it keeps gettin' weirder.

Enjoy the weather.  I know I am, but I need to get some sun on these white legs of mine lest I make someone else want a sharp stick for their eyes!

You never know what you're going to run into next.

As I was writing this, I got a call from my friend from church.  I've been wanting to stop by his house for a week now to visit so I ran over there for a minute.  I had to stop at the homerD today so instead of just talking to him on the phone, I went in person and visited for maybe fifteen minutes.  As I pulled into the parking lot of the homerD I heard a song I'll be sharing in just a minute.  But first, I have to tell a story, and then another one.

The first new car Wendi ever owned I was drivingmwhen it was totaled.  It was this little Hyundai and the thing liked to go fast.  On the ride to Indiana to retrieve the mower deck I've written about before, we named the car "Giddyup" because you'd look down at the speedometer and you'd be doing 80 or so without realizing it.  Giddyup was a shade of teal green you don't see very often.

Unless you're me, and you're having a weird day.

I saw a Scion pope-mobile at the grocery store that was Giddyup green.  And I've probably seen another 5 cars that color today, which is just kinda unusual.  It was an odd color and I've never, ever seen another hatchback Hyundai Elantra that color, so it kind of catches my eye when I see it.

So today is brought to you by Giddyup green and the letter Y (as in, why?!).

And then; my son seems to think that it's necessary to mess with the presets on my radio.  Apparently he likes to listen to what HE likes to listen to and not that Christian stuff that Dad listens to.  When I jumped in the Saturn today, I just set the thing on KLOVE and left it.  When I got to O-town, they were playing a song I like so I switched to the Ogden frequency for KLOVE and left that there.  As I was pulling into the Home Deopt, I got smacked in the face with this song.  There's a bit of irony involved in hearing this song at the Home Depot, but I'll skip it for now.    I've never heard this song before and, well, hey......

So, the roomie comes home tonight about a quarter to ten and I start telling her about my day.  I had the t.v. turned to TCM.  They're having a classic movie festival in Hollywood and they're showing a conversation between the TCM host and someone whose name I didn't catch.  They're on a circular platform sitting in tall director's chairs.  This is no word of a lie, in the background right in the front center of the crowd is the wife's doppelganger.  Don't believe me, ask Miss June!
