Re-do
You know how your place looks when you're moving either in or out? My house looks a lot less like that today, but it's been a project. I still don't have things put back that were displaced by holiday decorations. Mostly because this joint is gonna get cleaned up.
One thing I noticed almost immediately after my bankruptcy was paid off last year was that the things that lasted up until that point started wearing out. It started with the car and truck. From that time to this, it seems every month brought a $600 expense and all the while, things around here were wearing out at a rapid rate.
A for instance is the linoleum flooring in my laundry room. it just got old, brittle, and started breaking apart about two months ago. New tile is all of a sudden the #1 priority in home project land. I figure it'll take....
Yup. $600
It's necessary, but so frustrating at the same time to have to tile the floor. I was hoping to paint the kitchen. I have one of the gallons of paint. I want to add some relief on the outside of the kitchen cupboard doors and change the hardware on the cabinets to give the kitchen a more modern look. I also really want new carpet in my bedroom.
Those will have to wait until later on. One project at a time.
That first project isn't #1 on the priority list of things to accomplish, just #1 on the things that need fixin' aroun' heah...
#1 on the priority list is de-cluttering, which is going to start in earnest tomorrow. And part of that process is going to involve unpacking, sorting, and re-packing some boxes of things that now occupy two bedrooms in my home.
There is so much stuff in here it ain't even funny. But once it's properly packed and I get rid of a bunch of stuff in the basement, which is going to happen one way or another this Saturday, then I can store it down there, out of sight, out of mind.
That's gonna help me mentally. Junk and clutter drive me insane. And while I'm kinda not perfect about stuff all the time, like keeping the top of the fridge free from clutter, the boxes and boxes of stuff around here are giving me twitches.
For the sake of my mental state, I have to do something to change that. Tomorrow I start what I figure will take me a week to accomplish. At the end of that week, I will have not only stuff sorted, but moved downstairs. My sitting room will be empty of stuff, as will the other bedroom. I then can set up a guest room, which would be nice to have, if I ever have guests.
The basement then, after re-packaging, becomes the next focus. Fortunately, after this weekend, the next two are three-day weekends and by the end of those, I will have all of my canning stuff moved downstairs, the clutter down there completely gone (one way or another!), and then what needs repaired down there just gets added to the list of projects.
Busier than I want to be. But then, who isn't these days?
