Saturday Story

I have a little story about my bedroom saga.

If you're up to speed about my remodeling saga, you know that it's been a struggle just to get furniture.  I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy a bedroom set.  I was waiting, hoping for something that is delayed, but decided that there wasn't a better time than now, with some Divine intervention I might add, to buy said bedroom set.

I purchased it on Wednesday.  The salesman I met with on Tuesday wasn't there.  His name is Jake like my son, and we shared a laugh at the frustration they feel when most people assume their name is a shortened version of Jacob.  Fortunately, someone from the store called him and he got the credit and commission for the sale.  I would have waited otherwise.  But for two days after that, I was trying to get with said Jake to schedule the delivery.  I stopped at the store on Thursday and Friday both.  He wasn't there, but he called me Friday afternoon to let me know that the furniture was coming Monday.

That was a surprise because the day I bought it, the tall chest was back ordered until October.  I guess several other people had the same set on a hold but I guess buying is different than holding and he found me a chest.  Just buying the chest was a leap of faith.  I'm trusting God that I am going to need it someday, but that's a different matter entirely.

My Saturday story is this:  I bought curtains for my bedroom online on Thursday evening.  They were supposed to be here in two weeks.  Supposed to be.  I got an e-mail today notifying me they were back-ordered until December.  I'm not going to wait until December to cover up my bedroom windows.  I've looked all over for curtains I wanted, with no success.  The one place I didn't look was ShopKo, so I decided to stop there and see if they had something I liked.

They kinda did.  They had something that matched the motif' of my bedroom which is outdoorsy.  I could have made them work, had they had enough of them.  They didn't.  I told myself if ShopKo was a bust, then it was Home Depot for blinds.

I bought some blinds there a few years back for my living room window.  It took three sets of them to do that window, and they're kind of a cherry wood color.  That's what I thought I wanted.  Home Depot doesn't sell them in store anymore.  They had dark (faux) wood ones.  They were $95.00.  I decided to check out the ShopKo on 12th Street to see of they had one set of curtains that matched the other three at the ShopKo in Riverdale.  They didn't.  I kind of felt the nudge to go to the Lowe's by the Walmart in Harrisville, so I did.  And they didn't have drapes I wanted, but what they did have is 72"x48" dark (faux) wood blinds for $28.99 each on clearance.

The dark color actually looks good because my bedroom is painted a brown that's close to what coffee with cream in it looks like.  They fit the inside of the windows perfectly.  I didn't have to cut anything and it only took me about an hour to install them both.

Apparently covering up the windows was important and I needed blinds.

Today.

Some friends came by for dinner and a swim tonight.  They brought their kids.  It's always fun to have friends for dinner.  I busted out the dutch ovens and made country ribs and dutch oven potatoes.  The food was good and so was the conversation.  I enjoy having friends over.  I hope it's the start of having people in the house again.

On the way back from Lowe's I needed to get a couple of things i forgot for the potatoes, so I was gonna stop at the Smith's I drove past on ;my way home from Lowe's.  Again, felt the nudge to not go there, but to the Smith's by my house.  I don't know why that was, but I do know that as I was leaving the store, I found two dimes on the floor.

That's 20ยข for the missions fund.  That's a worthwhile find.
