When the tomatoes are ripe
I didn't plan on making salsa today. Salsa planned on me making it today. It's like most of life...you don't make it when you want to, you make it when the tomatoes are ripe.
I got said tomatoes yesterday from Pettingill's. I saw a thing on Facebook they had Roma tomatoes. The post was four minutes old. They had quite a few when I first got there. By the time I picked out my peppers and paid, most of the Romas had already been boxed up for purchase.
I need to run up again Saturday to see if they have Johnathan apples this year. If they do, and they have ripe Romas, I might make another batch of salsa.
I've already been asked for three bottles. That's before my mom gets her cut. I make it. She eats it. Sometimes she chips in for the ingredients.
I like getting stuff fresh from the farm when I can't get it fresh from the garden, and the fruit stands on Highway 89 in Box Elder County are as close as farm fresh gets. The batch of salsa yielded 21 pints and a small unprocessed bottle of leftovers that I'm sure will be an after school snack for Peanut.
I got to draft my Fantasy Football team tonight, too. I didn't have to hide my phone in the ceiling of an airplane and do the sneak draft like I may or may not have had to do last year.
I was thinking about how life is that way. We wake up with plans, or with no plans, and then we get to do things because it's just plain time to do them. The tomatoes were ripe today, so salsa got made. It was time to draft the Fantasy team. Roster cuts were made and the season starts Thursday. Today was the day. In the grand scheme of things, that's how it goes.
I needed blinds on Saturday. It had to be Saturday because they were on clearance and in stock. God does a pretty good job of being right on time, don't you think?
Something else I was thinking about last night and today, too. I'm so grateful to God for what He is doing in my life. Each thing that's new is such a blessing and it's to His glory that He provided each thing to me "on sale". I don't think I paid full price for anything more than the decorations. Each appliance, each piece of furniture, all on sale, or purchased at a military discount. I'm thankful for those things. And i'm blessed to have them.
I have no plans for tomorrow after work. I'm really curious to see what God's plans are.
