Minding my own business and working with my hands...
I seem to remember reading this in the Bible someplace and most days, that's what I do. Today, I enjoyed myself. The things I did weren't work, per-se. They were things I wanted to do and enjoyed doing them. It was a beautiful day to be outside and that's where I spent the afternoon.
I watered and weeded the strawberries, mowed the lawn, even under the apple and apricot trees in the back 40 (miss my hammock), watered the back 40 lawn, washed the cobwebs off my front door, fixed an Adirondack chair that I built a few years ago and painted it, and somehow managed to get everything put away, too. I trimmed up the apple trees too, so I can walk underneath them again.
Here are some pictures of the yard, one of Katie, my dog, and one of the infamous "paint the bedroom" episode. The bedroom used to be yellow with oak-colored wood trim. It's now purpleish (the fluorescent light makes it look more pinkish than it is) with white trim. When I was painting it, the room looked like a giant Easter Egg. The tulips are from some bulbs I bought in Amsterdam.

The yard looks amazing!!!! The chair you made even looks better. You did get a lot accomplished. =) I am soooo proud of you! That is why God gave us two hands. It make you feel so good when put to use. I have to say though, I would have to see the bedroom in person. It looks quite purple. It would go reat with my bedroom comforter set, but wow! I think I myself would have gone quite a bit lighter and brought out a darker purple in accent things. It looks good though...you did a good job.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tami Jo for the kind words and the continued prayer. I felt pretty good about getting some things done around the house. Something just kind of came over me yesterday and I felt pretty good about getting things done. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. Today's been like that, too. For some reason, getting the house cleaned up has been a priority.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bedroom, I picked out something to match the lilacs that are growing outside the window; something soothing and calming. It looks different in the sunlight. I didn't paint it for me, though, or purple in any shade wouldn't have been a consideration. I did it for someone else and will paint it a different color when I get ready to move back into the bedroom.
I can't take credit for the yard. With all the rain we've had everything is green.
