It's like building a house, only harder...
I was at Home Depot today. I was looking at stuff for the basement and didn't find anything I really liked. Tomorrow, I'm going to Lowe's. I'm toying with sucking up looking like the world's biggest loser and thinking about going to a movie tonight. I probably won't, but I'm seriously thinking about it. I want to see the new James Bond movie, but to me, alone at the movies on a Friday night screams "Loser!"
Oh, yeah, the home improvement store. Sorry about that.
We've morphed into bathroom vanities, kitchen cabinets, and countertops. I'm pretty certain the Thomasville cabinets are a bit out of the $31 a linear foot I'm being allowed to replace them, so it' stime to look elsewhere. Maybe Lowe's has something, well, affordable.
I'm thinking about white cabinets. The old ones are cheap and the upper cabinets were not damaged so they're not being replaced. Nice white ones would blend in better with the old ones which I can paint to match. It's tough being on a budget. I'm gonna have to talk to my contractor and see where we're headed with that project. With new cabinets comes new countertops. And a new backsplash. And I'm way over my head.
Seriously, this is like sitting down with a builder and picking out colors. Essentially, that's kind of where I'm at. Do I want carpet or the vinyl tile? Do I want to upgrade a bit to ceramic tile? Slate is $1.48 a square foot. Do I want to forego, well, food, gas, and tv to put slate in? What kind of laminate for the countertops? Color? Solid or a rock pattern? Do I go with the cheap peel and stick vinyl that looks like metal for the backsplash or tile? Or do I just go with the countertop backsplash and call it good? What color of tile, if I'm going to go with tile?
I'm a great cook, but I don't know nothing about what color goes with what. I didn't know you were supposed to wear the same color of socks as your pants until a woman told me that. I think flannel shirts are still a good fashion choice. I do know that black socks should never be worn with sandals, so I'm not a complete idiot.
But today's another reason that it's not good to be alone.........
