Serving

It's been so long since I've been blogging on a regular basis sometimes I forget what I've shared and what I haven't.  Keep this in mind as you read this.

God gives us gifts.  My pastor has the gift of prayer.  I don't.  I can pray privately for you.  My pastor can pray publicly for a group and always have the right thing to say.  When I try to do it I stumble over the words and it feels clumsy to me.  In private, though, I have no such problem.  One has this gift, one has that one.  Some people are organizers.  Some are blessed with oratory skills and are good sales people.  Some are blessed with being a good listener.  I'm blessed with the gift of figuring stuff out.

I prayed to God that I could find a way to use what gifts He's blessed me with to help out a group of guys in their ministry.  Quite by accident I found myself at a meeting I really didn't have any business being at.  I found out yesterday it was by accident; the person that invited me thought it was going to be something else.  After the second meeting, I found a way to be of help and there is something tangible to show for it that will I hope be a blessing to this ministry.

God sometimes doesn't answer prayers right away.  Sometimes I can't figure out what He's up to, but in this case I know it's something pretty cool.  The ministry I'm talking about is called Men of Vision Utah and they're sponsoring a conference in conjunction with Christian Mens' Network called "Heart of a Warrior" 2014.

Before you judge or dismiss it, why not take a few minutes to check it out?  Most all y'all would identify yourselves as Christians.  Why not find out about what God has to say about how you manage your life and your home?  I didn't guard my henhouse and look at what happened to me!  One of the speakers at last year's conference talked about that.  I lost a lot to the Evil One because I was pretending to be a good man instead of being a godly man and it cost me EVERYTHING but the roof over my head and I only have that as a testament to God's everlasting grace and mercy!  If you've been reading the blog for any length of time, you know that!

Anyway, because most all y'all that read this thing are affiliated with the military, I can get you a discount.  Tickets for you are only $15.  There's a motorcycle ride on Saturday from Salt Lake to the event and that's pretty cool, right?  One of the speakers is an avid outdoorsman and has his own outdoors magazine.  One is a former NFL star. That's pretty cool, right?  And there's food.

It's a blessing to be able to serve God in more ways than writing the ol' blog and I hope you'll take the time to check out the website:

it's http://menofvisionutah.org

you can read more about the speakers there!
