Always an adventure

As days go, this one has been interesting.

My door was knocked on earlier this afternoon.  I got a package from Amazon prime.  But I didn't order, nor was I expecting anything.  It had my name on it, so I opened it and inside was a stuffed hippo about the size of a beanie baby.  It took some thinking but with what I'm sure was divine help, I figured out who sent it and why.  It was a friend who I'd done something for and it was her way of saying thank you.

I found an old phone today I didn't know I still had.  I plugged it in and there was a number in it I no longer needed.  I just turned it off and tossed it back into the drawer I got it out of.  I'm sure the person it used to belong to has long since changed her phone number and NO!, well that still means no.

I have been wanting to transfer my music from my macbook which still works great but is no longer supported with things like software updates to my chromebook.  That turned out to be an adventure because the software to do it won't run on my macbook.  I found a way to use a flash drive and transfer the songs that way but the songs were gone.  I had to do some looking and some quick thinking but I found the missing 300 songs and have them uploading as I write this

Tonight was my turn to do the chapel service at the Rescue Mission.  When I got there, this woman was playing guitar.  Things like this remind me of a Toby Mac song called "steal my show".  If God's got other plans, well, who am I to stand in His way?  Turns out though the lady was only planning on playing before the chapel service.  She sang a couple of songs and I really enjoyed having music there.  It was nice.  She was nice.

A friend from church asked me for a ride home from work.  I picked her up and was telling her about my new car.  Turns out that we have a few things in common.  We both like old radio shows and old movies. She's a Cowboys fan, though.

Life's kind of funny sometimes.  It would be really easy to mis-interpret the meaning of the little gift I got today.  Because I know the young woman who sent it, I know it was just a token of appreciation for the favor I'd done for her.  It would have been really easy to text that phone number and see if it worked, but there's no reason on this planet to do that.  I was really tempted to offer up a prayer to the Lord and ask Him if He had another one just like the lady that was singing at the Mission tonight, but I noticed that she was wearing a ring.  Instead though, I just asked for mine.

Part of what makes my life so interesting is that I never know what's gonna happen next.  And some unusual things happened today, but so did Girl Scout Cookies!  That was a nice surprise.  I talked about choices we make tonight a little bit during the chapel service.  And I got bombarded with stuff from all kinds of places today that I had to make choices about.  It's funny though, as soon as I talked to God about not asking for one just like the lady I met tonight and only asking for what I still believe He wants for me, this peace just fell about the place.

He's far better at running my life than I am.
