Odd things
I saw three people I have not seen in a long time today.
The first was someone who used to attend our church until she got married. Her sister still attends, but this particular young woman does not. I hadn't seen her in a while; in fact I almost didn't recognize her. She was with her husband and we just kind of said Hi to each other in passing.
The second guy was someone I used to work with in the hangar. He was walking through the parking lot at work as I was. We stopped and talked for a few minutes; mostly about work. He forgot my name and called me "Don". It happens, I suppose. We had a nice chat for a few minutes before each of us headed off to our respective destinations.
The third was a guy I used to work with at the Air Guard. Of the three, it was probably the most unusual because I had to stop at the store and pick up something I forgot to buy today. I didn't want to go buy it; was going to just wait, but felt compelled to pick it up tonight. We had a nice chat as well about the Guard, how it's just not what it was (thinking to myself that if he thought that now, he should have seen it when I first got in!). I'd heard that things aren't all that well in my old squadron, and from what he says, it sounds like those reports aren't far from wrong. Sad, but times do change.
I wonder sometimes at the things that happen in life that just kind of make no sense. It's always nice when you run into people you used to know and to say hi and stuff, but three in one day is a bit odd. One I could overlook. Two, well it's not all that uncommon to run into people from the hangar on the base, but I know that things had to work out just right for that one to work out. The third one was the one that surprised me the most.
