So blessed
I am so blessed to be here. I mean that. And one thing I got to do last night is to go to a Rangers game. The stadium in Arlington is a beautiful ballpark. It's also not going to be the ballpark for the Rangers next year. The club is building a new ballpark with a retractable roof next door so they can better deal with the elements.
I thought last night we were going to be affected by the weather. Earlier in the week, the storms that were predicted were supposed to roll in about game time, but it became evident that there was going to be a little window before the storms rolled in.
Which was just long enough for the game to be played.
No kidding. It started sprinkling on our way to the parking lot after a great game. By the time we hit the freeway, it was softly raining. By the time we got back to Ft. Worth, it was a full-on thunderstorm that lasted for at least an hour.
Sometimes you just know you need to look to heaven and acknowledge God's blessing. I really feel like it was because the forecast was for these storms to be here at game time. Judging by the size of the crowd, I'm guessing a lot of people believed that forecast. I even bought rain ponchos for us (I went with two young men from my class) for just in case. We didn't need them. The people around us were nice and we all had a great time at the game.
I found an opportunity to share a little of my faith and got to listen to the stories of these fine men I was with. They're great guys. One of them went to high school and played ball with one of the relief pitchers on the Rangers. it was fun to hear his stories.
A young woman and her son were sitting by us and we were directly behind the Rangers bullpen. We decided the boy needed, and was going to get, a baseball. Fortunately the bullpen catcher saw him and flipped him a baseball the relief pitcher used to warm up with.
It was just nice, the weather was nice, the game was good. It was dollar hot dog night. The lady I just told you about, we were talking about peanuts at a ball game. I told her it was like a rule you had to eat peanuts at a ball game. She decided I was right, got up and went and bought a bag. She left her son with us. She knew that kid was as safe as if she never moved.
I had to stop for a minute on the way in the hotel last night and just tell God thank you. Sometimes you just know that it was a divine thing, and this was one of those times. Last night was such a blessing. The timing was just perfect.
