Loss
There are so many things that happen I will never ever understand this side of glory. Sometimes tragic things seem to happen for no apparent reason and when people you care a great deal for are hurt, those things hurt you, too. I'm reminded of that today.
You just never know how someone will touch your life and today I'm thinking about how my friend's wife touched mine. She passed away earlier in the week at a young age. With her passing comes a hole in the hearts of her family that cannot and never will be filled. I'm grieving with them.
My friend's wife was a great person and one I owe a debt to; for having the courage to remind me of something I should have known. I let anger get the best of me one morning just about a year ago now, and said some things about someone else on my wife's Facebook page. It was childish, immature, and most of all very Un-Christian. My friend's wife wasn't afraid to let me know, very strongly and very publicly that it was me being the jerk. Her actions moved me so much that I even wrote something about this incident on the blog when it happened.
Despite that, she didn't stop being a friend. She showed grace and forgiveness to me after I apologized for my actions. That's the thing I'll remember her for the most and says very loudly what kind of person my friend's family and her friends lost.
My heart is heavy today and my thoughts and prayers are with my friend and his family today. Life is short and each day, each moment is a gift from God. I wanted to take these few moments of that precious gift and say thank you to Him and to my friend for sharing such a wonderful person with all of us who knew her.
