too tall to be fat
I've always had a problem finding pants that fit. They make sizes for everyone it seems, but tall guys. Today, though, I found some that I think will work. I've been pretty rough on my jeans since I started my new job and today I went to buy pants.
First off, I can't believe pants are that expensive. I did find two pair that fit. Kind of. One is a little too big, the other maybe just a hair too small, but I've put on a little weight over the winter, so I'm an inbetween size. I shouldn't have any problems losing the holiday weight though, with the weather the way it is.
Anyway, they make all kinds of sizes for fat guys who are short, but for fat tall guys, well, the pickins' are slim. I have a 36" inseam. 34" inseams are too short; 36" inseams just a bit too long, so the backs of my pants are often frayed just a bit. I have no business trying to hem pants. Safety wire is a poor replacement for thread (for non aviation enthusiasts, safety wire is used to securely hold hardware like bolts in place on aircraft), but it'll hold a button on a pair of fatigue pants in a jam. Not that I've ever done this or anything....
I lucked out today. The IFA had pants in both sizes. I got a pair of jeans for a really good price which means they won't last too long, but they'll be fine for work. I also bought a pair of twill work pants. I've seen guys at work with these pants. They're black which will help. A lot of the things that won't come out of my Levi jeans are black. These pants can never go in the dryer. Ever.
The perfect pair of pants for me right now would be a pair of 37/35 pants. They'd fit, wouldn't fall down or cut off necessary circulation. Nobody makes that size. So my choices are to either eat up, buy a belt, or slim down some. I can live with slimming down some. I saw a picture of me in 2002. (wearing my cool green jacket!, which is altogether another story) and I looked like that for at least a few weeks last summer.
It seems that buying clothes, like everything else in life these days, isn't easy. At least buying pants isn't anyway. As long as they make white socks, I think that's gonna be simple. Even buying shoes is a chore. I either wear a 10 1/2 or a 12. Depends on which country the shoes are made in. Not even that can be simple.
