Sunday stuff

What a week last week was.  This week seems to be headed in a similar direction and I'm finding the most unusual projects that need to be done.

I got a lot of yard cleanup and weeding done in the garden.  I've found a hoe really makes quick work of the weeds so it's not going to be as bad as I thought.  I still need to mulch, but it seems that every time I get ready to do it, something comes up.

The garden is watered for today.  At 97 degrees, that thing dries out quick.  Watering is a sometimes, twice a day chore, depending on the plants.  I don't know if our peas are going to make it.  The high temperatures really did a number on them this afternoon.  We should have planted them about three weeks earlier than we did.  Watering the thing is no easy chore, either.

I cleaned up quite a bit of the yard this weekend, too.  Flowers grow, weeds grow quicker, grass grows where you don't want it to but won't stay green where you do want to grow it, and vines grow the fastest of anything.  I spent an hour yesterday pulling vines from my neighbor's yard out of my apple trees.  What a mess and I don't have my truck right now to haul the stuff off.  It's starting to accumulate in the bed of the truck where it will dry out quickly.

I managed my first of the year sunburn yesterday.  I didn't think I had my shirt off that long.  Oh well, today I found the sunscreen and made sure I used it.  Y'all know I don't tan.  I go red then peel then back to pink.  My doctor says I'm vitamin D deficient so a little bit of sun for me is a good thing.

With the hotter temps, it keeps the grass from growing quickly and today I was able to mow the lawn without the bagger on the mower.  I have a mulching mower and it's supposed to be good for the yard.  I liked my Honda when I had it for mulching.  It did a good job whenever I remembered or had time to mow it before it got really long.

I'm really happy today, despite finding a bit of an unwanted surprise in my yard.  I'll spare you the details save to say it was gross, and now it's gone.  Nothing dead, just one long, big pile of gross.  Had the screen from my bedroom window not mysteriously fallen out and the downspout on that side of the house come disconnected, I doubt I'd have found it for a while longer.  Needless to say, it's taken care of now and hopefully I won't find it like that again.

Church was wonderful this morning and I'm so very blessed to find a church that I feel so welcome; so at home at.  I've been really moved by the sermons the last three weeks and I'm so very thankful that my church is a part of my life.  Notice I didn't say a part of my routine.  I hope it never becomes routine.

God, as you may have guessed has been incredibly busy in my life and the lives of other people I know.  I so enjoy seeing the Creator at His work and occasionally, I get invited to join Him.  Last week, I had that opportunity... twice.  I'm so blessed that He helped me find the words to share from Scripture that I hope shed some light on a very delicate situation.  I have such a cool story to tell but I just can't right at the moment.  When the time is right.  I know I keep saying that, and that right time will come.  I promise.   And the story will bring glory to God!  I know I'm praising Him and have been all last week for what He did and is doing.

Like I said last week.  Impossible just isn't a word in my vocabulary these days.  I'm more apt to believe it's not likely, but I can't use impossible.  Nothing is impossible for God!

I really am blessed to have the use of my pool.  The last two days it's been so nice to jump in after some yard work and be able to cool off.  I told my neighbors they were welcome to go swimming but they found the water just a tad too cool for them.  I thought it was cold at first, but pretty nice once you got used to it.  My neighbor made the oddest comment to me.  He said he didn't realize we actually used the pool and that it was as clean as it was.  I work very hard at cleaning the pool so the comment surprised me.  I'm always cleaning that sucker out and today I vacuumed it and cleaned the filter.   That doesn't take much time to do if you keep it clean.  The best way to keep the pool clean, though, is to actually use it.  Algaecide attaches itself to the particles in the water and makes them bigger so the filter traps them.  If you use the pool, you keep those particles suspended in the water so they go through the filter.  If you don't the settle to the bottom of the pool.

My neighbors also told me I was welcome to all the cherries I could reach on their tree.  I have a 20' extension ladder and I'm just waiting for June to come home so I can pick cherries.  I don't want to go solo just in case I fall off the ladder.  Hey, I'm still me and still capable of having the dumbest stuff happen to me.  I got stung by a bee in December in Ogden, Utah so anything is likely to happen on any given day.

Well, gang, it's not much, but the really good stuff I can't share just yet.  Soon, though.

I hope y'all had a blessed Sunday and found time to make it to your church this day.  Praise God for this glorious day and this blessed life!  I'm so very thankful today!
