just trying to be quiet

I don't post stuff on my blog like I used to and thought I owed an explanation.  The best one I can proffer up is that much like the teacher doesn't speak during the test, the students ought not to either.

I'm going through a little set of trials that I don't understand, but the one thing I do know is that the last thing I need to do right now is to be blogging about them.

No matter what the outcome of these difficulties are, I know two things:  God loves me, so ultimately, things will work out for my good, and that God is still in control.

But if you could, and I don't often ask this, but I sure could use it, would you please be willing to say a little prayer for me to ask God to deliver me through this storm and to give me a big dose of wisdom for use until it quits raining?

It's a book about how this guy started a ministry at the high school he graduated from and how it grew. Yesterday, I read a story about how he was passing a skateboard shop, needing $200 more dollars for something God told him to do and he heard God telling him to go to the skateboard shop.  After a brief argument, he gave in, flipped a u-turn and went in. Turns out, he'd met the lady who owned said shop before, while standing in line at an amusement park near their home and had enough of a conversation that she remembered him.  He told her of his need for $200.  She started crying because God had laid it on her heart that she needed to take $200 with her to work because she was gonna meet someone who needed it. Learning to pray

The thing about my walk with Jesus; I'm always being challenged to venture deeper into that relationship, which is wonderful. And I'm reminded this morning that while there are periods of rest along the way, the journey is ever forward.  This week, I'm learning how to pray.  That may sound dumb, because I pray.  A lot.  Annoyingly a lot, sometimes, I think.  But I do talk with God all throughout the day, just as if I had a dad to call on the phone and talk to.  And of all people, you'd think I'd have a handle on praying. I guess what I'm learning to do is to spend time during my day with the TV off, no animals, shut in a quiet room, and praying intentionally and deeply about stuff.  It's kind of a new adventure for me, and I'm trying to get into the habit of journaling those prayers. Didn't see that one coming

Smarter people than me can't figure out my life.  I mean that. However, it's always good for a laugh.  There's a lot going on that I don't blog about, mostly out of respect for the privacy of the people involved.  There was a time that I didn't care all that much about that.  You live and learn, though.  Besides I'm finding that it's a small world, and mine gets smaller and smaller every day. I don't put a lot of stock into the things I see, but often this or that will be like a little clue that something odd is going on.  The car with Indiana plates I saw yesterday at the light on 36th would be one of those things.  There are people from all over in Ogden.  Texas, Missouri, Montana, Idaho, and the list goes on and on.  There are lots and lots of people from Oregon here.  And yesterday there was someone from Indiana in my neighborhood the same time I was going to work.
