Gardening update
I had to go out to the garden today. I haven't been up there for a week and it's a good thing I went.
There are 271 tomatoes in my kitchen. 104 of them are Roma tomatoes. I need jars. I'm gonna be canning my backside off. The total does not include the tomatoes my mom took home. She came up to help me pick stuff from the garden.
We harvested over 40 green peppers. I'm seriously thinking about canning these. I might even jar up some salsa. I have plenty of tomatoes.
We lost quite a bit of stuff to, of all things, deer. The deer have been munching down the corn plants. They've enjoyed some of June's broccoli. They trampled my Anaheim chile plants. I have plenty of them in the freezer already, so that's all right. We maybe got two dozen ears of corn for all that I planted. I know now how to plant corn so it will grow and produce ears. Lesson learned for next year.
I might even jar up some spaghetti sauce, if I can find a recipe I like. That's the downside to canning.... you can't just wing it. You gotta follow recipes to the letter!
There is a sink full of green beans again. My mom took home a quart freezer bag of them but we already have plenty in the freezer.
I'm sure I could pull some more beets too, if I wanted to. I do know what's on the menu for tomorrow's dinner at the "farm". Five hour stew. I found one red potato on top of the ground. I know there are more of other potatoes so I might dig a few up. We have beans and corn for the stew, too. I might see if a few carrots might be ready to pick. Then it'll be all from the garden. YUMMO!
It hurt to be out there with my foot, but I do thank the Lord for the bountiful harvest. It's more than I could ever hope for!

Isn't oven baked fries kind of a contradiction in terms? Thanks for the recipe! And thanks for reading the ol' blog.
