where is it?
I hate losing stuff. Or even misplacing stuff. Here's the story:
Hamburger is almost $4 a pound and I'm on a budget. I wanted to make some chili today, so I thought to myself; self grind your own. You have a grinder.
So I purchased sirloin steaks that were only $2.78 a pound.
But do you think I could find my grinders? Yes, grinders. Plural. I own three of them. Two are the old fashioned, metal hand crank grinders. The other is an attachment that hooks up to my Kitchenaid mixer. But I couldn't find the power grinder. Nor the metal grinder that used to live under the sink. It's among the missing and I'm fixin' to tear apart my kitchen to try and find said items.
But not today.
Because I found the third grinder with the cooking gadgets that live in the garage. Those are my wok, my Jerkey Blaster (best bargain cave buy ever!), the vegetable strainer I have and of course said grinder. These are things that I use from time to time, but don't have room in the kitchen for. Doesn't everyone have a genuine hand hammered wok?
Anyway, I found a grinder I knew I had but have never used this one. I think we bought it at a yard sale someplace along the way. That's where most of this stuff came from. And I'm thankful I had it because I surely didn't want to cut the meat into chunks.
The chili turned out good. You can't go wrong with Caroll Shelby's chili mix. Yup, the same Caroll Shelby that designed all those cool cars is the same guy behind the chili mix.
Betcha' didn't know that, did ya?
It's almost time to start putting out the fall china and when that happens, I'm cleaning out the kitchen cupboards. I'm bent on finding the two missing grinders. I have to find the one, it's the one we use to make giblet gravy on Thanksgiving Day. Ya can't mess around with the gravy.
OK,
We talked about superfluous stuff long enough. Let's get to the meat and potatoes of losing and finding stuff.
I'd be less than honest if I said I didn't try to run an audible play in my life every now and again and it seems that every time I do, I get tackled for a loss. I do get frustrated sometimes by being stuck in this place I don't want to be and sometimes I toy with doing something about it on my own. Solving part of it would be pretty simple, actually, but as I started looking into it, the wheels started coming off the train again. And then, God's grace provided a very important piece of wisdom. Basically it's this, and I'm so glad I found it:
Obey God and let Him worry about the consequences.
Sometimes I lose my way. When that happens, God always seems to remind me that I'm where He wants me to be. Since seeing that timely reminder, I really have been at peace and I surely enjoyed the church service today. The music was beautiful, the ladies did a wonderful job, and I enjoyed the message about Hannah. Her story is in the book of 1 Samuel in the Old Testament.
I'm sure I'll find the stuff in the kitchen, if it's still in the house. I don't know what I do with stuff. But I do know I found the most important thing I needed right now...
More faith.
