things are looking up
Things are looking up. Unfortunately, I forgot to look up last night and my head really hurts from smacking it on two different things. They're gonna get me a "bump cap" which is like a really heavy baseball style cap, so I don't do that anymore.
Bump cap? What's next, a rubber suit that inflates if I trip over something? Bump cap.
Great... I'm wearing a helmet.
I actually do have a hard hat. It's shiny red. We have to wear them when we're using a crane to hang big pieces on the airplane.
I have my first appointment with a contractor. This guy does basements (think man cave). I'm kind of excited to talk with him about what we can do within the budget and what issues we're gonna have. He's the first one. I e-mailed another one but got no response. I'm calling another guy tomorrow. Today just kind of got away from me. I think it was good to give the foot one more day of rest and I got some laundry done. We've been so focused on basement that the garden got away from us. Then we focused on garden for one day and the house got away from us. I focused on house and noticed today that with all the other focuses, the laundry piled up.
Not anymore! The laundry is now done. My bed is made. Tomatoes and salsa are in jars. There are more tomatoes to pick and I have a few jars left. I'm not gonna waste 'em. I'll jar them up and give away the excess. I might even make a few more jars of salsa. I like this salsa, for bottled, it turned out pretty well. I cheated though and used a spice mix that works for canning. I provided the tommuggies, though.
Next week, my weekdays get really busy. I'm taking a class in "Caring for God's People". It's a neat class and it's to promote diversity in the church. I'm kinda looking forward to it. I'm sure it's going to take more than just the class time once a week, but that's OK. God is using some really neat things to occupy my time so I'm not sitting around and dwelling on things. That's kinda cool. I like this process; learn something, put it to use. I've been given one opportunity to do that already. It'll be neat to see what this next learning process will develop.
There are still just a few shelves to empty in the basement that hold stuff that wasn't directly contaminated by water. It's still going though. A lot of it is stuff we put up and never got around to eating. I'm trying to avoid that pitfall this year. I'll eat eighteen quarts of tomatoes over the year. I'll use the frozen peppers (have some to roast and cut up and freeze). The green beans and what corn we have will not go to waste. But we really need some time to finish up in the garden.
If you want some tomatoes, come and pick them. I'm running out of time to do that.
Well, that's all from Lark Circle. Hope you all are doing well in your life's journeys this overcast Thursday afternoon!
