I hate waiting

I should be at work.   I started to head that way by disconnecting the electrical connector to the air conditioning compressor clutch.  That eliminated the smoke from the clutch trying to turn the air conditioning compressor, which, judging by the oil on the surface of said component, has suffered a failure.  Methinks that the pulley bearing was overheated and damaged also.  I think the truck is drivable for short trips, but that bearing is gonna fail sooner than later.  It's got one trip left in it and that's going to be to the mechanic.

And air conditioning work ain't cheap, so it ain't gonna happen tomorrow.

As I mentioned, I started to work, but with the radio off and that feeling that if I tried to get there, I wouldn't.  I think everyone who drives and older car eventually gets to the point where you'll wonder if the car will actually get you where you're going.  I've owned Chevron for 15 years and sadly, today, that answer was "no".  At least for now, but that answer is no.  The loud noise of the pulley bearing squealing was clue enough that I shouldn't attempt a 50 mph commute to work in the truck.

It happens.  The truck is old.  So is the car.  Things wear out.  If I had a nickel more than I could ever spend, my truck would get the new air conditioner part and a new water pump.  I'm all about preventive maintenance and I'd change these items.  I'd also replace every drop of fluid in the truck, replace the u-joints, and get it painted.  Every hose would be changed out before they rot out.  That day is coming soon, and all these things would cost me roughly about $5,000 total.

I don't have that, so one piece at a time.  Starting with the the things that will make the truck drivable again.

I mentioned waiting.  What I'm waiting on is a call from the Chevy dealer letting me know the ignition has been replaced on the Saturn.  Since there isn't a Saturn dealer anymore, any GM dealer will do.  They said it would be done today, and so far, I haven't heard from them.  If the car gets done in a reasonable time, I'm going to head to work anyway.  In the mean time, I'm waiting.

Oh, several little sagas are coming to an end in my life, I hope.  I called the mortgage company and they should be releasing the final funds for the basement tomorrow so I'm done dealing with them.  That's a positive thing.  Something else happened that I see a ton of irony in, and y'all know I loves me some irony.

June put a key down on the counter last night about twelve-thirty in the morning. (we keep strange hours here) that she found in the snow over at the wife's place.  You guessed it.... the snow melted and revealed the hiding place of my Saturn key.  The absolute funny thing about this is that stamped into the key is "Bob's"

Bob was an inside thing between Wendi and I.  Several people in Ogden still think that's my name.

I see the humor in it anyway.
