This week in review and reviewed some more

I've been a little busy and kind of neglecting the blog as of late.  Sorry.  Lots of stuff going on.

I took some me-time today, seeing as how the rain interrupted gardening.  Oh well, lots of plants are in the ground thanks to Miss June.  Lots to go, but we'll get there in the next couple of days or so.  In the mean time I took a road trip to the real Idaho for lottery tickets.

Malad was crowded.  I just kept driving up the road.  The further north I got, the further north I wanted to go, but a badly needed restroom break presented itself and I got my lottery tickets and just drove home like a good little do-bee.  I did not go to Jellystone this weekend.  Next weekend is up in the air, though.

I have a new roommate, besides the immigrant.  He's moving downstairs.  I'm hoping it works out well for both of us.  I told God I'd like to share what I have and I had a particular situation in mind.  It turns out that someone I go to church had a need and I'm hoping this works out good for both of us.

I'm all kinds of mad a Pat Robertson.  Fidelity is the responsibility of each person in a marriage.  It's not the wife's job to keep her husband faithful any more than it's the husband's job to keep the wife faithful.  Infidelity is a stupid and wrong choice by the way.  The Bible is pretty clear about marriage and fidelity and the duties of a husband and wife to each other.  Let the text be the last word on it, and don't ever do it!  It's a high price to pay and I'm still paying for it.

Just sayin'.

I'm smoking again.  This time I'm smoking a beef brisket.  It's been injected with beef broth at one inch intervals with a syringe that I can only describe as what my mind's eye pictured the infamous "square needle" hypodermic to be.  This thing is scary to look at, but it worked great to juice up what is normally a tough cut of meat.  We'll see if it turns out good.

Well, kids, other than that, I'm still alive, at least for now. I've got to go shopping at the Macey's today and that could be like taking my life into my own hands.  It's a long story... don't ask.

OK, apparently that wasn't all!  Here's the rest

I wanted to make fried chicken for dinner.  We had wings and ribs instead.  I had the wings and the ribs were my favorite brand:  on sale.  They actually had so much meat on them I could only eat four ribs and only two wings.  And no sides.  I need to lose a few pounds.  Frying stuff isn't gonna help.  Anyway...

I gave my hand held electric mixer away over Thanksgiving.  I had the big Kitchenaid so I shared it with someone who didn't have one.  I only use the thing to mash potatoes and when I shared it, I forgot I used the thing to mash potatoes.  I replaced it tonight with a quick trip to the Ogden Wal-mart, because I wanted fried chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner.  I knew they'd have a mixer for under $10 and I didn't feel like driving all the way to Harrisville or to Riverdale, so I hit the inbetween one.  I don't much care for the Ogden Wal-mart, so I usually shop at one of the other two, my preferential trip is the one to Harrisville.

By now, you should recognize the setup.  Going someplace where I don't usually go, etc...

It's not that great a story, but it's the second odd thing that happened to me today.  I'll get to the first in a minute.  As I was driving along, I switched the radio back to BBN and the program on was about Nehemiah.  We're studying Nehemiah at our Thursday Bible study/prayer group and it's the third time this week I've seen stuff about Nehemiah.  We must've picked the right subject.  If you'd like to hear the program yourself, it'll be on again Sunday at 8:30 a.m.  It's called Let My People Think.

The first odd thing that happened was that on the road trip, I was listening to my iPod.  I must've loaded up a sermon I have on tape because on the ride home, when I came home instead of heading north, I heard this sermon about getting a fresh start and at the end of it, the pastor starts talking about Hosea and his relationship with his wife.  You think I've had a rough row to hoe?  Read about Hosea!  Anyway, I just thought it odd that would come up when I'd picked the shuffle songs option.  I didn't even remember putting it on my iPod.

I leave you on this chilly spring Saturday evening with a song, which I heard playing over the speakers, of at all places, the Smith's.  We had other food because neither store I went to this evening had split chicken breasts.  The song caught my attention because it's the first time I've heard a Christian song played in a place like a large chain grocery store!  Praise Jesus for that!
