not healthcare, but really bad movies

Hi gang,

I had planned the other day to tell you a story I heard on a radio talk show I heard while driving home from Indiana last weekend but I heard something very profound on the radio yesterday that made me change my mind.

I talk often about listening to the Bible Broadcasting Network (shameless plug) and I heard one of their spots talk about why they don't have talk shows as a part of their programming.  They said it's not important for Christians to know what other people think about issues.  It's more important for them to focus on their Christian walk.  I don't think that means we shouldn't stay informed about the things happening in our government, but it's more along the lines of the "be in the world, not of the world" way Christians are called upon to live.  We should have opinions about things but along the same lines, there are other things I can share with you rather than ranting about politics.  So today is about really bad old movies.

I don't watch a lot of tv.  I really don't have time, but after doing some chores around the house, I turned on TCM and watched a really bad movie starring Raymond Burr.  Bad movie, but great message.  I like the old black & white movies.  Especially some of the overdramatic acting.  It makes me laugh because people in real life (at least in these days) don't act that way.  It kind of takes you back, though, to a simpler time and reminds you of things gone by like passenger trains, swanky night clubs with floor shows, things like that.

Maybe that's why I like them.  It just reminds me of simpler times.  And, every now and again, they'll dust off a classic movie that you haven't seen in a while.  It's a good way to kill an hour and a half on a Thursday before work.

Well, off to work.  Praise God for the job and for all the good things in life.  Even just being able to take an hour and a half and do nothing but watch a bad movie.

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day!
