Exit NOW!
I haven't shared a story in a while of how God works in my life. I do have one I can share today though. It's just one of those typical, random little stories that happen to me frequently. Here we go:
So, there I was just a little bit east of Kansas City and kinda be-bopping to the radio when this little voice inside says to me. You need to check the oil in this car.
OK, good idea. I know she uses a little bit so I looked at the gas gauge and had plenty. Thought I'd just do it at the next fill up. WRONG!
Same voice, just a couple of seconds later: YOU NEED TO DO IT NOW! It wasn't a shout, just that overwhelming feeling that if I didn't do it soon, I was gonna regret it, so I'm gonna take the next exit. Not more than a second or two later I see a billboard for a truck stop. It was at exit 101. In Missouri, there is a mile marker every 2/10 of a mile so it wasn't hard to figure out I was at mile marker 98. But me being in a hurry was thinking I'd be ok and could check the oil at the next fill up.
About two seconds later, the DJ on the radio is talking about doing a contest, something about spinning a wheel or something, then says "we haven't done the 101 yet".
OK, I'm taking exit 101. I pull into the travel plaza and check the oil. It's low but not blow up the engine low. That wasn't the problem. I looked at the front tires on the car and each is about half-flat. The left tire had like ten pounds of pressure in it and I'd been driving at about 70 mph for a very long time.
I know it's a stupid story, not very exciting, and probably just a little random thing. The thing is that I listened to that radio station as long as I could and not once, never once, did I ever hear an explanation of what the "101" the DJ said he had to do actually was.
There's a moral to this story: Sometimes that inner still quiet voice knows what's going on. The second moral story is it's always good to give God glory even for little things; especially when you know that a warning unheeded could have turned into something so much worse than ten minutes at the gas station. Besides, they had good chicken fingers!
So, praise God for keeping me safe! Hope you're having a blessed day and thanks for reading the blog.
