the snow melted (and the day was longer)

The snow melted and I own dogs.  Guess what I got to do today...

I try to keep up after my dogs, but in the winter sometimes that's a challenge when the weather doesn't cooperate.  Today though, was warm if not sunny and a perfect day to pick up the yard a little bit.  Which is what I spent some time doing today.

Glamourous?  Not by any stretch of the imagination?  Gross?  Probably.

That's just a testament to the fact that not much is going on today.  I did do some shopping and I'm never surprised anymore by how expensive things are.  June misplaced her phone a while ago and it didn't turn up so I bought her a replacement today.  She got a new phone number, too, because transferring her old one was too big a hassle.  Anyway, I'm not boasting about the phone or anything, but telling you this to explain that I spent more on a box of vacuum cleaner bags for the electrosux than I did on the phone.  That's not an exaggeration.  The bags were $49 for a box of 24.  That's not bad, I suppose, but just a big tickie item when you have to buy them all at once.  The phone was cheaper than that.

I hate buying stuff anymore.  I really do.  The dogs sometimes crawl under my bed and knock out the support legs.  They did this and caused one of the rails to break.  It's made out of wood.  I glued it back together, but spent $30 to do this.  $7 for a bottle of glue, $3 for a 1"x1" to make some new support legs, and $20 for two wood clamps I needed to hold the thing together.  I've since grabber screwed the support legs in, and added some other grabber screws to keep the slats from moving.  Maybe it'll keep the bed sturdy for a while.  That was a last weekend project, though.

Everything is so expensive.  I found some pork chops that were cheap, though, and that's dinner tonight. A little shake & bake I found in the cupboard and some parsley potatoes made with what was in the pantry and viola', not a bad little dinner for us.  At least dinner tonight didn't break the bank.

Someplace between writing this the first time, I missed out on a nap  I was going to take, but found some other things to do. I swapped out the microwave ovens over the stove.  I had a spare and it's a long story why I did, but that chore is done.  Steam & cleaning the old one with something I shouldn't have used caused the buttons on the old one to quit working.  That problem has since been corrected.  Instead of throwing it away, I might see if it can be fixed.  Then I'll have a spare again.  I took out some trash, made my bed, and stayed busy.  I had to buy a lightbulb for the old one, so another trip to Lowe's for a $5 bulb and we're good as new again!

I had to go to Home Depot to get carpet shampoo and cleaned the carpet in my bedroom.  I cleaned and dusted my bedroom and swept the floors in the house. That was earlier in the morning after the vacuum bag purchase.  The carpet is all cleaned and shiny now.  Dogs take their toll around here.  Bucket sheds like crazy.

I found out quite by accident I work with my neighbor's step-brother.  I walked down to chat with her and her husband for a few minutes.  It was very nice to see them.

I really didn't sleep well last night, and I have no idea why.  Just why I had so much energy today, I'm also clueless.  Staying busy some days isn't such a bad thing.

Hope your Saturday is a great one.  Don't forget church tomorrow!

God Bless all y'all,

Coop
