Short Sunday blog.

When God does something impossible, he first takes an impossible man and crushes him!

Today's sermon at church was about forgiveness.  Great timing, Pastor Karl.  I know he prepares his sermons in advance but it seemed today that this arrow was aimed right at me.  In fact, all I could say to him at the end of the service was "wow".

His point is one I hold dear to my heart.  If I forgive less than Christ forgave me, then how do I justify that?

Good advice and lots to think about, dear readers.  Forgiveness, like love, sometimes involves a choice.  What that choice boils down to sometimes for Christians is to choose to believe Christ's teachings or not.  As the man on the radio said, we are the only things created on this planet who can say yes or no to God.  I say yes.

I choose to forgive like Christ forgave me.  I didn't deserve Grace.  God gave it to me.  I didn't deserve mercy, but in His mercy God didn't give me what I deserved.  I deserved what I got but I didn't get what I deserved.  That's God's mercy and love in action.  So, if I don't in turn extend forgiveness and grace to others, am I not like the greedy servant Jesus talked of?  Remember the story?  A master forgave a great debt from a servant and then the servant had another man who owed him money and had that man put in prison?

I choose to honor God today.  To give Him glory putting me in the places He did today to hear what I wanted to hear.  I had to make another choice today, not to forgive, that choice was a no-brainer.  The other choice I had to make was this:

Do I trust me or do I trust God?

I chose to trust God.
