Full gas can? Check.
Hedge Clipper? Check.
Well, I'm ready. Guess you can tell what's on tap for me this weekend, huh?
Yup. It's my annual battle with the fitzers. They'll win in the end but at least in the spring I like to pretend I have a fighting chance. I'll clip them back, they'll grow forward. They're further down the list. My list starts with dragging the de-thatcher across the front lawn. Last time I did this, I swear I could have had enough dead grass to make a bale of hay. I have a thatch rake, cut the tractor attachment makes much quicker work out of it.
After thatching comes mowing the jungle. It's going to be difficult because of all the rain we've had. It's getting green and yellow, and tall, too. After mowing, I have do deal with yellow. Darn dandelions, anyway. I have some good stuff to make them disappear, so they shouldn't be much of an issue. It just depends on how long Scotts says you have to go between crabgrass killer and dandelion killer.
Then comes the annual "cross your fingers and open the valves" checkout of the sprinkler system. I have my bucket of parts and heads all ready to go just in case. Last year wasn't too bad. This year, who knows? I might get around this year to replacing all of the heads that have sunk over the years. It's kind of a pain to do this, but there's one or two in the front yard that I absolutely have to change this year.
From there, I need to empty out the dump cart and fix the flat tire. That's gonna be after I mow & stuff. Once that's done, then and only then will it be time to cut the fitzers. I need the dump cart to haul the branches back and forth to my truck.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend!
