A surprising treat

I posted this earlier, but nobody read it yet so it gave me a chance to re-write it.

Y'all know I'm a baseball fan.  I really love the game.  Every now and again, you find a game that turns out to be one of those great games and you're glad you watched it.

Tonight's game between the Dodgers and Nationals is on TV.  I was thrilled that it was because I haven't seen them play this year.  What a game so far!  It's in the tenth inning and this game has had just about everything!

The Nationals called up a player and today was his first major league game.  The kid is 19 years old.  His first at-bat was a bouncer to the pitcher.  His second at bat was, well, a little better... a double to the bottom of the center field fence.  His third at bat he had an RBI on a sacrifice fly that put the Nationals ahead.  It was 3-1 Nationals in the bottom of the ninth.  And then:

A couple of passed balls, a double, and a player reaching first base after a strikeout resulted in the Dodgers scoring two runs in the ninth.

The game just ended, in dramatic fashion, with Matt Kemp crushing a home run in the bottom of the 10th to win it.

I feel bad for the Natties.  But only a little.  This kid Harper is gonna have some kind of a career.  He was almost the hero for them.  He made a great throw from left to the plate which the catcher dropped.  Had the catcher not done that, the guy at the plate would've been out.  I was pretty impressed.  I haven't bought a baseball card in years but I think I want this kid's.

And how about my first place Dodgers?!  And how about Matt Kemp?!  That walk-off homer in the tenth was just cool.  And you could just tell that when he came to the plate that, well, that was just gonna be that!  Even the announcers knew it.

It felt so good to just sit and watch a baseball game.  Life is getting so worth living again.  Buck seems to think so too.  We played ball and rope today before I mowed the lawn.  We're going for a walk tomorrow after church!

Speaking of church, please don't forget that Sunday is the Lord's day and I hope you'll make it to your church (or mine, that would be nice!) and worship the Living God.

And praise God for a wonderful, peaceful, uneventful day!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot:  The Nationals pitcher smacked a double in the gap tonight.  Take that, American League.  I still agree with the guy that said this "Ten on a line-up card is softball".

Yup!
