It's a small world....
I think there's a little life lesson to be learned in this story, and it's this: You think you know people, but what you know is kinda just what you see. And what you see at work,
OK, we interrupt this blog post for an important update: The SNL skit on right now is a parody of Californians. The guy is on a date with this girl and brings her home. His friend is there and his date is married to his friend. They've been separated eleven years.
I can't make this stuff up. ..Wow...Just wow!
Anyway, no reading between the lines on this one. I thought it was funny and thought y'all might too.
My first supervisor at Hill asked me one day if I knew someone at the Guard. I said I did and he told me about how he knew that person. Small world, I thought...
Today, I asked a guy I go to church with if he was related to the guy from the Guard. He told me he was and it turns out that the three of them kinda sorta have their lives a bit intertwined. It really is a very small world.
My other story is one you already know: One of the guys I used to work with is related by marriage to one of my neighbors. They were step-brother and sister. The guy from church and the guy from the Guard are also related by marriage. The third guy at Hill was also related by marriage but not anymore.
Small world.
As the conversation bounced around at church today, it turns out that a couple of other people I go to church with know the former occupants of my house. It's easy for me to explain where I live because it seems everybody either knows the retired dentist from down the street or the family that built and owned my house. They mention they know this or that member of the Ray family and I tell them I bought the Rays' house. Then they know exactly where I live.
It's kinda funny to me that today was "Small world" Saturday and then see a parody of part of my own little existence on SNL. Guys, I get that it's a small world, but it just ain't that small.
So what does it all mean? I dunno. Maybe nothing. Maybe something. Maybe I'm gonna win a trip to Disneyland. At this point, anything is possible.
Today was an odd day. Tomorrow is a day for celebration! Jesus overcame death! He is Risen! With God, all things are possible and I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!
