I like quiet and I added some stuff at about 6:45
Here's a synopsis of the last 24 hours of my life.
I worked on getting the divorce paperwork fixed during my lunch period last night. Close. Not quite but close. As in good enough for me close. But then they were good enough for me when i filed them. I'll figure it out.
I was going to (note going to) file them again today. My plan was to get up early, go to the bank, have them notarized again, go make copies again and this time try not to leave my debit card in the copy machine, and go file them again. That was the plan.
I had to tell you that for two reasons, one will make sense now, the other won't because, well, this happens to you every day. I was looking for the hours for the court house. I couldn't find them but as I scrolled through the court info, I couldn't help but notice the name of the court clerk for the Commissioner who will be handling my divorce. My friend formerly of Colorado and the court clerk share the same name; not identically nor is the spelling the same, but it's close enough to see the humor in it.
You'll notice I mentioned formerly of; yup it plays into this little story. I never go into the break room at break time. But last night my feet hurt and I was all done with technology, so I did. When I sat down, I got to see a commercial for tourism for the very small town my friend lives in now. I got up and left.
That, well, that's just noise. My friend is getting married. That's a no, but it made me laugh. I think the key to all of that is "no". And I'm just telling a story. Don't read into it what isn't there.
There is a huge blessing in here. We're on mandatory overtime until the end of June. I should work just enough hours between now and then to pre-fund my furlough. No kidding. God is good all of the time!
I was tired when I got home. I wanted two things; food and bed. I got what I didn't want, too. Bad news.
Miss June had an accident with her car. The transmission fluid is a color transmission fluid isn't supposed to be. So she went to have it changed at the Jiffy Lube. As she was pulling the car into the bay, she hit something and ripped a hole in the sidewall of her tire. The Jiffy Lube guys were nice enough to push it out of their shop so they could close up for the night. My new roommate was nice enough to go down there and try to rescue Miss June, but when they opened the trunk of the car, they found a shredded tire.
At eight o'clock in the morning I was loading up a floor jack, jackstand, and the old lady so we could go move the car, flat tire and all to a spot where I could lift it up and change the tire which I did. The first plan was to just put a new tire on the spare rim, but the rim is bent on top of everything else. Must've been one hell of a ride... that's all I can say.
I have this nice floor jack that works really well and I took it with me. Of course, though, my floor jack wouldn't fit under the car with the flat, so I used the jack that fits on the frame rail. I had to go home to get it. But then the lug wrench didn't fit. I needed tools. I had to go home to get them.
I had to be to work at ten today. I was just a few minutes late. Needless to say, the trip to the courthouse didn't happen today and it's not going to happen tomorrow either. I have to get my truck taken care of before I get a ticket. The delay did not surprise me.
One thing about this... none of it is ever boring.
If I let crazy rule my life, I think I'd be certifiable by now. I mean that. I do my best to ignore it but sometimes crazy gets loud, like the last 24 hours. If everything happens for a reason, I'm far beyond finding one, other than we face tests in life, and apparently this is a killer mid-term. It's easy to lose focus, but then:
I went out to the garden, where the corn and beans are up. It reminds me that being a husbandman is the part-time job for the next three months. I have plenty to do and right now, I'm watering parched ground.
I went for a swim. The water is cold, but if the sun is out and the wind isn't blowing, it's nice.
I went to get stuff for dinner. I spent less than $5.
I noticed my roses bloomed today. The raspberries are also in bloom as is the blackberry. If I hadn't been paying attention, I would have missed that.
It's easy to get lost in the noise, but when you start looking for quiet and find it, you see all kinds of things around you.

And it just wouldn't be fair of me not to share this story: I walked into the bedroom and flipped the TV on the old fashioned way. It's horror movie night on TCM and they're chasing a sea monster in Astoria Oregon.
