Prayer challenge
Mark Batterson is an interesting guy. Back when I was fighting my own lion, I read a book he wrote called In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day. I like that title. I don't know I won the battle with my own lion in that season, but brother, I put up the best fight I could muster.
A couple of weeks ago, I signed up for a 40 day prayer challenge Pastor Batterson is leading that started today. In addition to today being Ash Wednesday, it's also Singles Awareness Day, or Valentine's Day, or sans it being Ash Wednesday, I would just say it's plain old Wednesday. Regardless, the prayer challenge started today, but the conversation started last night with me saying something like this after dinner:
"Maybe what I should have done was ask God what He wanted instead of freaking out."
If only!
mail m
I didn't and I got here.
It was suggested to me that I ought to ask God again, because maybe things weren't gonna go as planned this time either. Since I have no idea how things are gonna work out, I kind of let that go, but I did ask again before I went to bed. And I got an answer this morning in the first e-mail that kind of shocked and surprised me:
I think it's evidently clear that irregular things happen to me on a regular basis. I see God's hand in this, but I would be foolish to think I know the outcome. I thought I did and it didn't go the way I thought it would. In fact, it went the opposite way I thought it would last fall when I thought it was time for the conclusion to come. I went on and read the e-mail and in it the first paragraph talks about how we should pray for God's will in the situation, and I watched the companion video with this.
So if you're reading this, it's not too late to join the challenge. if you google draw the circle prayer challenge, you'll find a link to it. I ordered the study guide today and purchased an extra, if you would like to claim it, PM or e-mail me at tapple2@hotmail.com. They should be here in a week.
And if there's something I can agree with you in prayer for yourself, again pm, call, text or e-mail me.
And if you'd like to know what I'd like you to agree with me in prayer for I'd also be blessed beyond measure to share that with you privately.
I have an idea of what I'm drawing a circle around to pray over during this 40 day period, but I do pray a lot. And irregular things happen, which kind of helps me and hopefully helps someone else to know that it's not just random stuff. And I share this with y'all in the hope that if you see that in my life, it points you to start looking more closely at where God is at work in your own.
