Going "Coastal"

What a nice morning.  I woke up to rain (several times) but finally decided to get out of bed around seven.  The beagle had to go... apparently she couldn't wait.

My coffee ritual was different this morning.  I know you're sick of hearing it, but I did it without a cigarette.  I guess the important thing is not giving up on trying to beat this thing.  But coffee was on the menu and I enjoyed just sitting out on my patio and looking at the view.  Everything in the yard is still really lush and green.  Really, we haven't watered all that much.  It just kind of stayed that way from the wet spring.  I got a lot accomplished yesterday and I really didn't mean to.  I enjoyed my restful day.  I went for a swim, took a nap in the hammock for a bit, and long about four in the afternoon, I just started kind of puttering around in the yard for a couple of hours.

That's when the rain came.  I love days like today, where it's nice and cool.  It's almost "coastal" because everything is so green in the back yard.  The air smells clean and the scents of rain and mountain air co-mingle for a right nice, refreshing even, time outdoors.

I started thinking about this:  Football starts in just under a month.  I need to try and find some extra-extra overtime or have a yard sale or something.  I missed the football games last year.  It was the first year that drill weekend wouldn't have been in the way of attending a game and I didn't go to one.  I'm hoping that circumstance will not repeat itself this year.

Fall is just around the corner.  The apricots on the tree are turning, but they're not very big at all.  I guess the weather did wreak a little havoc on the thing, but they're still edible.  They're just not much bigger than the pits.  I have peaches and nectarines and fortunately where I planted these trees, they get water.  I'm not watering the back 40, except for the grass and strawberry patch.  I want those weeds to germinate, but I'm not gonna let them get tall.  First sunny day this week and the weed killer is coming out.  I finally convinced the immigrant this was the ONLY way to go!

Well, that's all from Lark Circle this very "coastal" Monday.  A fresh pot of coffee is just about done and I'm just going to enjoy the day before I have to go to work.  Have a great day, everyone.
