Taking care
I'm on this kick lately to fix stuff. I'm still upset about my truck being low on anti-freeze and having to leave work just a bit early because I want to start building my leave balances back up. I've tried to divest myself of the things in my life that were causing me problems. I kind of tongue in cheek blamed those things on the "Tami Jo" curse which of course doesn't exist.
There were times I think that God did use circumstances to keep us apart but the things that happened to me on Monday evening had nothing to do with that. It's just mischief and a lack of attention to detail on my part.
I check the oil in the truck and it would have been so simple to just do the same to the coolant. It has a plastic bottle and I could have lifted the cap to check the level instead of glancing at it. From the bottle it looked like the coolant level was up but there are some deposits in the cooling system that will require it to be flushed out. For now, I need to nurse it along, but when the weather clears I will tend to it.
I try to take care of my truck. I really do. It's the only thing I have to get back and forth to work so I have to.
I'm trying to take better care of the homestead, too. Painting was a start. There are things that need to be fixed and I'm doing a little bit here and there to bring things back up to snuff. It's amazing what a little paint will do!
When I wrote about things, it was a tongue in cheek article about wanting vs. needing. I'd like those things as I said, and I'd like those things for my roomie, too. But each has what he needs right now. He was kind enough to share with me a piece of salmon his brother caught. We talked about how God blesses each of us; he's gone from having barely enough to an abundance right now. I think that's great!
God does take care of His children. What I'm really making an attempt to be is a better steward of the blessings He gives me.
I needed (?) some time off this week. I will make it up this weekend when I work comp time instead of overtime for money. That will make me break even. 16 hours off. Sixteen hours of leave back on the books. It's a blessing.
The other thing that's a blessing is that I looked at the dryer. The idler pulley froze up and the belt came off it. The spring came off it too. I have a can of WD-40 and that freed up the pulley. It needs to be replaced and hopefully it's an item that can be replaced. What was broken wasn't what I'd already fixed. That repair is holding well. The dryer is working again. I could use a new one but for now, this one is working again.
God is good all the time.
