Well, almost....

I am almost finished painting my bedroom.

Almost.

I used to have this thing about not finishing things I started.  There are still little bits of projects that need just one more thing to make them done.  It seemed that when I almost finished them, it was late at night and almost done never quite changed into done-done.  You'd probably not notice the imperfections, but I know they're there.

Almost in this case will turn into done-done tomorrow and Sunday.  I need to paint closet doors and repaint the trim around them.  I've touched up everything and I'm satisfied that no yellow or purplish-pink (which was supposed to be lilac but didn't quite turn out that way) is showing through the "in the midnight hour" blue.  I painted the ceiling a flat white and the trim and doors will be a bright white.  The trim I added around the window really makes the room look different.  The white really contrasts against the blue and makes the windows look bigger than they are.  I'll put the curtains up tomorrow but I think they'll look really nice with the blue walls instead of looking hideous with the other paint color.  I knew I could afford paint, but not curtains.  I got smart and found something that would work with what I already had.

Waste not, want not.

I started on Monday.  I tried sleeping on the couch Monday night but in the middle of the night, I moved the stuff off the mattress and slept on the floor.  I've been there ever since.  Until tonight.  I managed to get half of the trim painted this morning before I went to work.  After work, I managed to put the bed together so no more floor.  Anyway, it took so long because it's a big bedroom and I only have so much time in one day.  Painting with three different paints takes a lot of patience and a lot of prep work.  And a lot of time.  I guess I used four paints counting the primer.

I bought a can of paint for the ceiling I would never use again.  I put two coats of paint on it because I was stupid and didn't primer the whole room.  I used one gallon of paint for the walls that I really liked and bought another gallon of a different brand of paint because it's what I used when I painted the closet doors the first time.  I will never buy this brand of paint again, either.  I was so disappointed.  It was the most expensive and it was more runny than I recalled.  So much so that it wicked up the edges of the painter's tape and I had to clean up and touch up the blue.  I also had to use two coats of paint on the walls because I didn't primer them.  I did primer the closet door and the trim around the windows.  That only took one coat of the paint/primer combo that the white paint is.

I will finish up the closet doors tomorrow.  At least the outside of them.  The closet is another project itself.  I'm going to use what's left of the white paint to paint the cupboards in the little bathroom.  When I get a little more money next month, I'm going to paint it grey and white.  The cupboards are already white from me seeing if I'd like it.  I do.  I want new door pulls and they're not free.  When I'm done, though, the bathroom will have a more modern look.  I'm going to paint the vanity black, I think.  Or maybe white.

I've almost made up my mind on it.

But not quite.
