It wasn't there... I swear it wasn't
I slept in a little bit today. Maybe it was the weather, but I just couldn't get going for some reason. I finally got up about 9:00 this morning, had a cup of coffee and set out to start making the pumpkin pies.
I found the pie plates and put the crusts in them. Then it was off to the pantry to get the stuff to make the pies. Sugar, check. Spices, check. Canned milk, check. Eggs, check. Pumpkin... um, where's the pumpkin? I know we had a can because it was there the other day when I made sure I had the ingredients.
I looked (and not just looked like a guy, I moved stuff!) and couldn't find it. I hollered down to the mother-in-law and asked her if she moved it or something. We looked everywhere and both of us will tell you, it just wasn't there. Annoyed a little, I got dressed and headed to the grocery store to get another can of pumpkin.
I mention from time to time, that my tastes in radio have changed a bit over the last few months and I usually have the radio in the truck on the Christian station. When I got into the truck, there was a pastor on the radio talking about God working the impossible. I missed the first few minutes of the message, but thanks to technology, I was able to listen to it again on line. God working the impossible seems to be a theme in my life lately. I've shared some of the random things that have happened to me over the last month or two. Add this one to the list. As I drove to the store and the message continued, I realized what had happened to the pumpkin. It wasn't lost. I just needed to be in the truck to hear this message.
Now, some of you won't ever believe this story and might add it to the list of things that make you think I'm cracking up. But here's the catch. As I was pulling out of the driveway, my mother-in-law found the pumpkin in the spot where it was supposed to be all along. Right in front. Right in plain sight and right where it wasn't just a couple of minutes ago. It just wasn't there. Neither of us saw it and the minute I was where I needed to be, it was there again. I have a witness!
The story gets better... Sometimes, I open my Bible to just whatever random page and read what appears for some inspiration for the day. Sometimes the passages have nothing to do with what's happening in my life, but it's a rarity for this to be the case. Today's passage was Hosea, Chapter 3. Take a minute and either look it up or google it and read it for yourself, just so you know I'm not losing my mind. I couldn't make this stuff up, my friends. It happened and it keeps happening. Praise God!
Gang, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Take this opportunity to give thanks to God for the many blessings in your life. Praise Him for the abundance in your life. Thank him for the tribulations because they bring you closer to Him. Give thanks for family and friends. As you feast, take the time to acknowledge that all good things come from God! Use the time to grow together as family and friends.
