Let's bring this week in for a landing!

Shortly before I left my job at the ol' Air Guard last year, the idea of solving problems during our morning standup meeting took on kind of a pilot toned theme.  When there was an issue, our commander would ask us what we could do to bring the issue in "for a landing".

Well, it's been that kind of a week on the blog.  Lots of things, each building on the other, from the moment I got home from my undisclosed location, to a pretty great way to end the week.  I started out with talking about being ashamed of people for their lack of any kind of empathy or concern for their fellow man.  On Tuesday, I asked if the theme for the week was going to be breaking the chains of the past to soar in God's plan.  I added a few comments here and there to that blog post that I thought were applicable to the post throughout the week; two of them from my Facebook page (be sure to send me a friend request if you'd like to see it for yourself).

On Wednesday, I asked if it was really too much to give some common courtesy to our fellow man and challenged you to do at least one random act of kindness.  Then I shared with you a passage from the Bible that talks about the right way to live.  Thursday brought you the story of Ted Williams from Columbus, Ohio!

Mr. Williams has a gift he clearly acknowledges comes from God.  Through all the adversity he's been through with drugs, alcohol, crime, and homelessness, God saw fit to not take that gift from him.  A man saw his sign, went and got a camera and filmed Mr. Williams.  A random act of kindness.  He was impressed, put the video on YouTube, and on Thursday, Mr. Williams was a guest on the Today show.

So, let me see.  Mr. Williams found faith.  He's cleaned up his life.  He lived through much adversity but now that he's acknowledging God in everything he does, he's been given a second chance.  Someone practiced a random act of kindness.  Someone didn't judge Mr. Williams for his past, his appearance, or his circumstances. Mr. Williams shed the chains of his past and God worked a miracle in his life.

Don't you find it maybe just a little bit random that all of the things I've been talking about for the last little while you get to see for yourself in someone else's story?!  Mr. Williams' story is a manifestation of the very things I've been talking about.

Do you understand now?  Do you start to see what I'm talking about?  Do you see what faith can do?  Are you just a little bit more willing to believe in what a little random thing can do?  Do you GET it?  Can you see that we can learn so much from other people?  If God can do this for Mr. Williams, what can he do for you?  Now do you understand why I believe, the joy I have, the hope for the future?

And for my Guard friends who still think I'm nuts, I really do appreciate your concern but as you can see by the way this week turned out... crazy?  Maybe not so much.  I applied reason to everything I posted.  I thought there were some good lessons in everything I shared.  There's no way I could have known I'd have such a great way to "bring this in for a landing".  But if you're still not sure, ask KP what airport this "week" took off from on Sunday.  I doubt he'll tell you but you'd probably make him laugh by asking.

Praise God for loving us enough to work miracles in our lives!  Praise Him for loving us enough to show us the errors of our ways!  Praise God for answering prayers and using other people in our lives as answers to prayers!  Praise God for teaching me to Trust in Him, to have patience, faith, and above all else, forgiveness and love!

And please remain seated with your seat belt securely fastened until we reach the gate and the Captain has turned off the seat belt sign.  It's only almost Friday.  Who knows what will happen tomorrow?
